Thank you for caring enough to stop by and learn a little about the life of Luke. Luke has struggled for four years since his below the knee amputation, due to  mesenchymalchondrosarcoma (a rare bone cancer) We are so thankful that Luke has now been cancer free for four years!

He did not just get his leg amputated and live happily ever after...there is more to the story...every day he struggles to walk on a bloody, bruised stump and can rarely sleep because of intense amounts of phantom pain..wait you have never have never heard of phantom pain? It is a very real monster pain that makes Luke feel that his leg is on fire, being crushed, he feels the now gone tumor throbbing, being hammered, a nail through it, an unseen electric tazor, you never know when it is coming....it is an unexpected thief that robs you of your life..

I do not write these things to complain, but to be real with you, whoever you may be. Whether you are a friend, family member, or someone who just happened upon this site...this is how it is. For years people have assumed that Luke is doing well, and we are the happy "Leave it to Beaver" family. Yes, we are incredibly blessed with our three beautiful babies, but life is so very difficult everyday that it is hard to put into words. If you are someone who knows us you may be scratching your head thinking "what? I thought the Baders were fine". Well I am creating this site for Luke to have a place to explain to the world what his days are like, because he rarely tells anyone...except for me...There are so many of you who we have not opened up to and told you what is going on..we do not want to complain, but sometimes everything is almost too much to handle..I hope the entries from Luke help to give you some insight into our world...

as I am writing Luke is struggling to put his knee cap back into place....the pain never ends
