Fred

Fred is a little happy-go-lucky, approx. 10 yr old terrier. After all he has been through its amazing to see him so full of life. He was rescued from a ditch beside a railway track after being there for 5 days at least, without food, water or shelter. He was emaciated, freezing and exhausted. It took him a few days to come around but he now bounces about the place without a care in the world. He is very spritely even in his old age. He loves his walks and adores a good old scratch on his backside! He is perfect with other dogs but can be a bit cheeky with cats. He doesn't mean to harm them, he just likes annoying them every so often. He has a slight bit of arthritis in his left hip so he is on medication for it which will last the rest of his life but he accepts the meds no problem. He has been neutered, wormed and deflead and will be fully vaccinated before rehoming. He would suit a family with older kids and maybe another dog for company but its not a must as long as he gets plenty of love and attention. This little guy has been waiting patiently while all the other pups and younger dogs go of to their new homes. So if you feel you would like to take on an older gent like this little man then you can call Andrina on 0860701319. He now deserves HIS chance in a nice stable loving home...

Laois Pound

The Laois Pound in Ballacolla has several dogs in its care at the moment. Please consider rehoming a dog from the pound. We appologise that we do not have any photographs of the dogs but you can contact Tristan Blundell on 086 2556298 for more details. This Christmas has been one of the worse times for adult dogs being abandoned. We do not know the reason why there has been such an increase. All animal shelters around Ireland have been affected by this and we would ask people to please consider rehoming some of these lovely dogs as the only other alternative is for them to be put to sleep.Remember a dog is for life and can be one of the best friends you will ever have , do not make the decision to get a dog lightly.

Hello My name is Judy...

I am looking for somewhere I can call "Home". I think this is where Im supposed to tell
you all the cute and cuddley stuff about myself and how pretty I am to make people
want me, But Im just going to tell you my story the way it is...

Some weeks ago I was hit by a car and left on the road side to die, I was rescued
by the LSPCA but my injuries were pretty bad and after a long operation I lost
my left eye. Im now living in a kennell where although I get fresh food and wate
every day And my guardians at the LSPCA are really kind to me, But there time
is spread very thin because all the other dogs that come and go need attention too.
I am very greatfull for all they have done for me And although I lost one of my
eyes Im also very greatfull I still have the other one.
Im now feeling much better and I just want to make the best of this 2nd chacne I've been given.

(Judy is approx 5-6 year old mixed breed female. The fact she lost one eye does not
seem to bother her as she is a very happy friendly dog. Judy responds very well to commands, will sit on request and is a pleasure to take in the car if needed.
She would make a great companion to almost anyone as she has a lot of love to give and loves people, She is also house trained. Judy loves spending time in the garden/outdoors.)
If you think you can give judy the good home and love she
deserves Please call 086-0594375 (Updated on 14-5-08)
