LORD RAGLAN ANGLING CLUB

THE LORD RAGLAN ANGLING CLUB WAS FOUNDED IN FEBRUARY 2002 BY A BUNCH OF LOUTS IN THE LORD RAGLAN PUBLIC HOUSE, ST GEORGE, BRISTOL. IT WAS DECIDED IT WAS PROBABLY A GOOD IDEA TO GO FISHING ON A SUNDAY INSTEAD OF SPENDING THE DAY IN THE PUB!!

SINCE THEN THE CLUB HAS RUN QUITE SUCCESSFULLY AND A GOOD DAYS FISHING IS USUALLY ENJOYED BY ALL.

ON AVERAGE WE HAVE APPROXIMATELY 20 MATCHES A YEAR, THESE ARE FISHED ON MANY DIFFERENT WATERS IN THE SOUTH WEST.

WEARE PRESENTLY LOOKING TO EXPAND OUR MEMBERSHIP. NON SPONERED ANGLERS ONLY PLEASE.

                                                                                    2006-2007     SEASON OVERVIEW

Firstly many thanks to all the members who supported us over the season,there was plenty of good matches lots of fish caught and some good banter had by all.

There were plenty of highlights during the season and some low( Macey Ellaway the human plummit!!! and cider farm) but on the whole i think everyone can say that a good time was had by all!

Congratulations must go to Chris Szakacs who in his first season with the club ended it on a high by becoming club champion.Second place went to last years champ and mister consistant Stu Riddle well done Stu! and third spot went to Mark Winstone who after many seasons making up the numbers and cleaning out avon angling of ready made pole rigs!! finally knocked Tony Lord out of a top three finish well done mark!

Well good luck to everyone in the new season,there will be hopefully a match report on the site after every round and points will be updated as soon as we can.May this season be as good as the last and who knows Mark Winstone might make his own pole rigs,Wayne Garland might stop talking to himself and Mike Smith might take that fag out his mouth!!!!

Again a big thank you to all the members who have supported the club during the season and made it another one to remember.There were many good matches,lots of healthy competition and plenty of cracking banter over the year.

The new club champion for 2007-2008 is Mark Winstone,Mark has had a fantastic season and is a worthy champ with some great results over the year.The wee man has come on leaps and bounds over the last few seasons,who would of thought this is the same guy who didnt know one end of a pole to the other and struggled to put 10lbs of fish in the net and is now knocking out ton up bags of carp at viaduct.He still has his moments thou like forgetting to tie hooks on!!!!!!!!! Going into the last match at burly fields the title could have gone to several anglers but after a cracking contest the little fellow got enough points to edge it and took the title.Well done mate you deserve it!

Second place went to Rich Britton,Mr consistant Rich proved what a good angler he is with framing in most matches he fished and if he hadnt missed a few im sure he would of run Mark alot closer.

Third spot went to Mike Smith who also had a cracking season with some great performances and going into the final match had every chance of winning it,which would of been for the third time but a blow out at the final hurdal cost him letting Mark get the title and Rich overtake him.

A few other worthy mentions must go to Stu Riddle who finished fourth and also does an excellent job with the clubs finances ( dont worry Stu that match ton will come just a matter of time )and Chris Szakacs who finished fifth and also took the biggest weight of the season nearly 140lb of avalon carp,last years champ started the season on fire but missed matches and poor form at the end cost him dear.

So all in all another great season and we look forward to seeing you all at the agm at the Warwick arms on the 5th of April.         Tight lines everyone and were see you on the bank!
