What You Need To Know

Dancing Out

We usually dance out twice  a month between February and October, but it does vary depending on holidays etc. Please ask us for a list of venues.

If you know that you or your child cannot attend one of the scheduled competitions please let Joanne and Shirley know as soon as possible to allow for substitute dancers to be trained for that position. If for any unexpected reason you cannot attend a competiton (ie: illness) please let us know as soon as possible - our mobile numbers are on the venue list.

It does let the team down if we don't find out at the last minute that the team will be short and dancers who persistantly let the teams down will be asked to dance on the back line for a certain amount of time to encourage commitment to the team.

The meeting place for the coach is on Hafton Road Lower Kersal, the time varies and is announced at practice and on the venues page on the website.

please bring along with you a comb or  brush and be wearing or bring additional white underwear. it is advisable to bring a packed lunch and drinks as there is not always food or shops available at venues.

We attend an annual Championships weekend away where all dancers are expected to compete. the price varies from year to year, but we offer a savings club where you can pay a little each week to spread the cost. Please ask for details.

You can make your own way to competitions, but please let Joanne and Shirley know that you will not be on the coach and be at the venue by the specified time. It is probably best to follow the coach anyway to make sure you don't get lost. Coach fare is still payable for dancers even if they go in a car to help with the cost of coach hire (except for Annual Champs).

Please be aware that you are responsible for your own child/ren at practice and at competition venues, and that we do not tolerate any abuse towards ours or any other troupe. Please make sure that you register yours/your child's emergency contact details when you join, and remember to keep them up to date.

Costs Involved

Weekly subscriptions are £1.50 per dancer per week. This goes towards the cost of trophies and medals presented at the end of each season and other running cost (room hire etc.). Dancers are given 4 weeks "grace" to allow for holidays and illness, but ask that subs are paid up to date for weeks beyond this.

Coach fare is currently £3.00 per person payable on the day of competition, dancers going in cars are asked to pay coach fare to help with the cost of coach hire. Most venues have an entrance charge for adult and children spectators, and some charge for dancers also. This is payable on the door at the competition and goes towards the cost of hiring the venue. It is usually £1 per adult 50p per child.

Each dancer will need to have a dancing uniform in which to compete. This consists of : dress, long white socks, headband, bobble, bells and a pair of shakers. a full uniform costs in the region of £50.00 per dancer. these are provided by the troupe to ensure continuity and we hold fundraising events throughout the year in order to cover the cost of them.

Competition pumps are provided at an additional cost of £3-£4.50 (currently) per pair, and each dancer is responsible for letting the trainers know if their competition pumps need replacing. You will also need white lace up pumps or black plimpsoles for practice. We have some used pairs available at £1.00 a pair but genenrally it is best that these are provided by yourselves as we have limited sizes and under normal circumstances we do not provide new ones for practice .
