EXPERIENCED BASS PLAYER LOOKING FOR MATURE AND DEDICATED MUSICIANS. I KNOW YOU'RE OUT THERE SOMEWHERE.

***** THIS IS IMPORTANT TO ME *****

I HAVE NO DESIRE TO JOIN THE ADEAF MUSICIANS HALL OF FAME@, AND I AM LOOKING FOR MUSICIANS WHO KNOW HOW TO CONTROL THEIR STAGE VOLUME.   I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT "ENERGY" WHILE PLAYING MUSIC DOES NOT EQUAL "EXTREME VOLUME" WHILE PLAYING MUSIC.

Now that we have THAT out of the way ........................

I=m a bass player with many years of experience looking for working, near working or newly formed band. Covers or a mix of covers and originals. If you're looking for Flea, Jaco or Geddy, then don't call me! (LOL).  I specialize in finding the groove (along with the drummer), holding the groove and keeping the song together.

I'm a solid, complimentary player who understands that the bass and the kick are the foundation of songs. If the bass and kick don=t Alock in@ then the songs just don=t have the necessary Apunch@ in my opinion.  I sing good background harmony and would consider singing some limited leads on the songs that are right for my vocal range.  I=m honest about that.  Will consider almost any type of music, but please no rap, nu‑metal or anything that is "heavy" or Ahard.@ Would prefer "good" classic rock (not the stuff that every other band locally seem to have on their play list).  Anything along the lines of classic rock that has not been played to death, 60s and 70s R&B/soul, blues/blues rock, contemporary Christian, dance funk, jazz rock, latin, some of the newer stuff ‑‑ anything that is INTERESTING. I am open‑minded about whatever you might be playing. Trio, 4 piece band, 5 piece band, wedding band, you name it.  I want to continue playing in a band.

Sorry, but I'm just not really interested in playing "Gimme 3 Steps" for the millionth time.  Really.  It=s not that I don=t like southern rock, it just isn=t something I want to play a LOT of.  Probably not more than 3-4 tunes a night, if southern rock is on the play list.  And especially THAT song.

You will find that I'm a total team player ‑‑ I NEVER miss rehearsals for BS reasons (like my cat coughed up a hairball or I lost my car keys or I was kidnapped by aliens), I know how to tell time (actually wear a watch) and get places when I=m supposed to.  I help with equipment, you name it. Whatever helps the band, I'm up for it. Will play out 2-3 weekends a month, occasional week‑night gigs are OK too.  I have a day job and a wife and a house with a mortgage, so I'm NOT interested in playing full time or touring.

I am looking for mature and dedicated musicians (age range 30s, 40s to 50s). Have pro gear (which is in perfect working condition), reliable transportation (which works all the time) and most importantly A SENSE OF HUMOR (somewhat twisted, according to the wife, LOL). I have found that a sense of humor is absolutely necessary in this business. Trust me, I don't take myself too seriously. Music should be about fun. MOST IMPORTANTLY, MUSIC SHOULD BE ABOUT TEAMWORK.

I live in St. Petersburg and work in Tampa, so local area would be OK in terms of practice.  Don=t smoke, hardly ever drink while playing.

I will also do fill‑in work.  Probably know several hundred tunes.  Extremely quick study on things I don=t know.

I=m not a ASteve Stunning@ type guy (but I don't scare small children and animals -- really).
I don=t have long hair and I don=t look like Fabio (although the wife thinks I=m a cutie).
I don't know "everyone who's everyone" on the local scene.
I'm not a name dropper.
I haven't been around this area forever and can't talk about the "good old days" and clubs that are long gone.
I'm just a guy who loves music and wants to play it with other people who love music.

My musical influences:

Favorite musicians:  Brian Wilson, "Duck" Dunn, Jack Cassady, Chris Squire, Mark Knopfler, Flea, Mike Bloomfield, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Donald Fagen, Leon Russell, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jaco Pastorius, Berry Oakley and Michael Gregory.

Favorite bands:  Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac, Collective Soul, Little Feat, Yes, Roxy Music, Talking Heads, Live, Lenny Kravitz, Green Day, Savoy Brown, Santana, Run DMC and (of course) The Rolling Stones and the Beatles.  You get 50 bonus points if you know who the Siegel-Schwall Band is .........

Call me B if you don=t reach me right away I WILL return your call. I'm responsible that way.  My cell phone is (727) 742-8992.  My home phone is (727) 526-8991 and I have an answering machine.  My e-mail is wuzwoof@tampabay.rr.com.

Sorry about the long post, but I=m nearing the end of my rope with a lot of stuff that I have experienced in the last few years.  I believe in being up front and truthful about what I do and what I am. If you have a problem with that philosophy, then we won=t be successful in working together.  I want to be in a band, a situation where everyone gets input.

Man, the stories I could tell ..............  PLEASE don't think that I'm dissing anyone or have an overly inflated opinion of myself or my skills.  I don't.  I'm just being totally honest about what I am and what I would like to find.  I don't believe in wasting anyone's time.

Thanks for reading about me.  Give me a call and let's make some great music.

Steve
