EXCERPT

A SHRILL scream awakened Tony Boy in the morning.

“Oh my God-Oh my God-Oh my God!!!”

He cleared his throat. “Good morning, babe.”

She clutched the blanket infront of her like an armor and looked at him with horrified eyes. “Don’t say anything, don’t come near me and don’t move from the bed!”

“Calm down, baby,” he said softly.

Nahuhulaan na niya ang ipinagkakaganoon nito. Jenny was not a loose woman. She was having a major attack of guilt, of course, and they needed to talk about it.

“Don’t! Don’t call me that! If you call me that one more time, I swear, I’ll skewer you with your own cue stick, Tony Boy! Oh God, where are my undies?!”

“Ouch...”, he said laughing, “The Grandmaster of Pool found dead skewered by his own cue stick. It will definitely make the headlines all over the world, sweetheart.”

“Shut up!  And don’t call me sweetheart either! Don’t call me anything!” sigaw nito saka tinungo ang banyo at pabalabag na isinara ang pinto.

He sighed. Okay, they definitely needed to talk.

“I suppose you don’t have panties on,” he drawled teasingly. He raised his hand where her black t-back was dangling.

He sighed and waited for her  to come out again.

Oh God, what had she done?! She had slept with Tony Boy two months before her wedding! How could she have been so stupid? She blamed the wine. She blamed Tony Boy. But in the end, she did not have anything else to blame but herself.

What would she do now? All her plans seemed to be a blur right now. She needed to think! And she couldn’t think properly while she was near Tony Boy. A few days of seeing him again after six years and they already ended up in bed together! Imagine what would happen if she stayed with him longer?  The idea elicited wild, hot, sexual encounters with the man and she cursed him all the way to hell and back.

I have to get out of here. Fast!

Lumabas siya ng banyo. Tony Boy was lounging casually on a sofa.

She squared her shoulders and looked him straight in the eye. Lord, he looked gorgeous in the morning with his hair uncombed, his body superbly sculpted by lean muscles, muscles she had touched hungrily last night. His skin seemed to gleam like bronze as the streaks of sunlight peeking from the tall windows caught his tall, powerful frame in a silhoutte. Her conscience was shouting inside her head. Get a hold of yourself, girl. Stop gawking at him. You need to scram now, alright? Now!

“There is nothing to talk about. Nangyari na ang nangyari. Pero hindi na iyon mauulit. Ito na ang huli nating pagkikita, Tony Boy.” Nilampasan niya ang lalaki at tinungo ang pinto.

He grabbed her arm and spun her around. “Not so fast, babe.”

Iwinaksi niya ang kamay nito. “Ano ba! Sinabi nang huwag mo akong tatawagin nang ganyan!”

His hazel eyes smoldered like fire. “I will call you whatever I damn well please, Jennifer. And stop bitching. Sit down. Mag-uusap tayo.”

“Ayokong makipag-usap sa ‘yo! Aalis na ako!” Tinakbo niya ang pinto pero mabilis siyang hinarang nito. “Tony Boy, please! Paraanin mo ako!” gusto na niyang mag-hysteria. Pakiramdam niya’y napaka-cheap niyang babae.

“Calm down, damnit!” “Listen to me! Jenniffer!”

She looked up at his intense eyes.

“If you think you can walk away from me after last night, think again. Pag-usapan natin nang maayos ang tungkol sa ating bagong sitwasyon.”

She shook her head repeatedly. “I have a boyfriend and I am getting married, Tony Boy…”

Naging marahas ang mga mata nito. His hands bit cruelly on her shoulders. “Like hell!”

She winced in pain.

Nagmumurang binitawan siya nito.

“Kausapin mo ang boyfriend mo. Kanselahin mo ang kasal n’yo.”

The tyrannical way he said it, as if he owned her, infuriated her. All her defense mechanism  rose to the fore.  “How dare you! It’s my life! You can’t tell me what to do!”

“I’m warning you, Jenny.”

Namaywang siya. “Who the hell do you think you are! Anim na taon kang nawala tapos babalik ka na akala mo kung sino? You think your world champion title could make any woman do your bidding at the snap of your fingers?!”

“As a matter of fact, most women I’ve met did,” he said with pure arrogance.

She rolled her eyes. “Oooh! I’m out of here!”

“Ihahatid na kita. Gimme a minute to put my clothes on.”

He slipped his feet into his loafers.

“Hindi na. Magta-taxi na lang ako.”

“Don’t argue, woman,” he said while buttoning up his shirt. He dragged her inside the bathroom with him.

“Ano ba!”

Para siguradong ‘di mo ako tatakbuhan.”

He locked the door of the bathroom. Her heart was palpitating  crazily at the intimate scene. She was tempted to grab the brush and comb his hair herself.

“Now…” Hinarap siya nito matapos mag-ayos. He gently pushed her against the bathroom door.

Her legs threatened to buckle underneath her. Kahit hindi pa naliligo, he looked good enough to eat. “Tony Boy…I wanna go home…” she said faintly, smelling his minty breath and fresh aftershave.

He held her face and kissed her gently, his lips just skimming her lips like butterfly wings. He had kissed her before just like that, when they woke up at dawn after making love that one night six years ago. He woke her up with those butterfly kisses.

He looked contrite. He hugged her. “Aw sweetheart, don’t cry. Shhh. Don’t feel bad about us, Jen. It was so beautiful last night. I’ve missed you so much. Hindi mo ba ako na-miss?”

“I…I wanna go home, Tony Boy. Please…”

He sighed. “Okay, let’s go.”

“I know you’re upset, sweetheart. Everything’s gonna be alright, okay? I’ll be back this afternoon. We will talk about us. Aayusin natin ito.”

Tumango na lamang siya. Anything to get rid of him now! He kissed her before he left, a possessive, bone-melting, mindblowing kiss that left her breathless, her mind, body and soul aching for him all over again.

She called her travel agency and booked for a chance flight back to Davao City.
