Louisiana Photographic Arts

Louisiana Photographic Arts is pleased to announce this opportunity to bring together the work of serious photographers and to promote excellence in the art of photography . Making the effort to showcase your talent and ability sets you apart from the crowd and helps to establish the high standards of quality to which all serious photographers aspire .LPA awards those who excel in the craft of capturing unique and effective images . Chances are you have produced work which represents these qualities.    

ELIGIBILITY

 Open to all interested photographers. There are no thematic or subject limitations .Submissions will be accepted from all areas of photographic endeavor.

ENTRY PROCEDURE

Work must be that of the entrant . Your name , address , category , and the title of the work (if any) must be clearly marked on each entry . There is no limit to the number of entries you may send . You may enter material which has been previously published if you have retained the rights to do so . You may send all entries in one package even if you enter different categories . Black & White  and Color will be considered seperate categories . (See "Categories/Awards Structures"). Entrants are encouraged to keep a copy of all entries. Do not send originals unless you retain a high quality duplicate . This page may be photocopied and distributed to your artist friends and additional copies may be obtained by contacting LPA and requesting them . This information may also be duplicated for your publications, newsletters and bulletin boards.

PRINTS

Prints may be entered in all three categories . Digital photographs should have a minimum image of 300 DPI. Image sizes may range from 5"x 7" to 16"x 20" . Do not send negatives . Photographs may be unmounted , dry-mounted on foamcore or similar backing , or matted . Mark the outside of the envelope or package "Photographs: Do Not Bend!"

SLIDES

Slides may be entered in all three catagories . Sizes may include 35mm , 2 1/4 " , 4"x5". You may enter slides using 8"x10" slide sheets . Glass mounted slides cannot be accepted.

ENTRY FEES

Entry fees are $20 for four entries postmarked no later then DECEMBER 1ST, 2006. There is no limit to the number of entries you may enter . Only checks drawn on a U.S. bank or  Postal Money Orders in U.S. Funds are acceptable . All fees are non-refundable. 

ENTRY DEADLINE / WINNER'S LIST

 All entries must include the following :(1) Photography Entries, (2) Correct Entry Fees, (3) Completed entry form , (4) Self addressed ,  stamped envelope marked "Winners List " to recieve a list of the finalists, (5) Proper self-addressed , stamped envelope / package if you wish to have your work returned . Carrier - delivered entries must be packed in sturdy reusable packaging . Fiber cases  and bubble wrap or foam sheeting are preferred . All entrants wishing their material  returned will automatically receive a Winner's List.  Do not use metered stamps for your return postage . The post office will not accept them. Entry deadline is December 1st, 2006.   Winners will be announced , prizes awarded and all returns made by January 15th , 2007.

CATEGORIES / AWARDS STRUCTURE

There are three categories: Photo Journalism (an image which tells a story or conveys an emotion); Nature (animals , flowers, landscapes , etc . nothing man made may appear ); Open (may include any subject.) On the rare occasion of a tie more than one award may be given in a category. All winners  will be eligible to  appear  in the anthology "PICTURE PERFECT " once a sufficient amount of material has been received .

INSURANCE

Every  reasonable precaution will be exercised in handling your submitted work. However , no responsibility is assumed , by Louisiana Photographic Arts for loss or damage for whatever reason .Photographers wishing to insure their work must secure their own insurance .

JUDGING

Your entries will be judged on the basis of composition , content , technical merit , and originality . The judging decisions and prize distribution will be final .

RIGHTS

The photographer entering this competition retains all rights to his/her work  at all times.
