Sierra Espuña
A Beautiful Protected
Natural Area

We Walk in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Walks are geared to people who don´t want to be nervous scrambling up or down dangerous steep narrow slopes or cliffs.. Our walks are usually between 2 and 3 hours, simple walks.. just easy walks at a pace to suit yourself.. NO racing and NO athletics! However, of course, you do need to be reasonably fit and in good health to enjoy them. We walk for the social side of it, not for the sports side of it. So athletic sporty walkers may not find them demanding enough - and if you like easy sociable walks, and don´t like sporty walking which involves a fast pace, scrambling around on perilous ledges and not having time or the puff to talk while walking, then you´d probably really like to come on a nature Espuna trail!. Some walks have fundraised for some of the local dog rescue charities.

Feel free to explore the area right here by clicking on the appropriate links to the left, and come along on one of the lovely  sociable, easy walks.

This is all about meeting people and being sociable, eating out, and making friends.

It´s also an opportunity to discover  new , very beautiful,  places, that you would never have found on your own.

The usual format  is a very easy, fun walk, followed by a wonderful sociable meal. We go to different places, chosen from a variety of local Spanish restaurants, each of them chosen because there is something particularly nice about being there.. for example one of our favourite places is a restaurant in the mountains where you can sometimes, if you´re lucky, see wild boar .. it is in a beautiful natural setting that you´d be very pushed to find on your own. All the locals have known about it for years, and it´s usually packed full!

We eat authentic Spanish cuisine at low cost menu-del-dia prices. But sometimes we have picnics too!

Variety is the spice of life!

We´ve even been known to travel out of the area by train to  Elche to see the palms and Jardin del Cura there.

Watch this website for dates. It is always changing!

Follow the links and take a tour around the area!

Sierra Espuña is a series of beautiful pine-clad mountains home to the Golden Eagle, Arruis, Wild Boar and much other typical Spanish wildlife.

The village of El Berro is a tiny village populated by about 100 permanent residents, and you can take a photo tour by clicking on the link to the left.

In the village of El Berro, if you wanted to stay overnight and make more of an outing or holiday out of it, you´d also find all you need for a wonderful, relaxing stay away from the hussle and bustle of the rat race, a welcome breath of fresh air away from city life and all its stresses.
