Due to recent inquiry about our sanitation proceedures, we feel it would be benefical to make everyone aware of our proceedures. As always we recommend very highly that you do not introduce any new ferrets to your own without a proper quarantine of at least 7 days. We also strongly recommend that you do not subject your ferret to contact with any ferret's excrement, or living environment unless this ferret is out of your own household. In an effort to provide the most contaminate free environment, LOS provides santizible aprons for judge's and health check personell, disinfectant which includes a parvocide, all ferrets are health checked, records are checked and all areas including the fun ring area and judge's area are disinfected throughout the day to ensure a clean environment for your ferrets. We also disinfect and clean out all fun game props including the baskets, scale, etc. Paper bags for the bag escape are not reused, they are thrown out after each ferret. We recommend that you do not use these bags for your ferrets to play in after they are used unless your ferret was the one that had previously inhabited that bag. We do not provide open playpens for ferrets to be exposed to each other in. Several other shows have proceeded with such play pens but because this causes a large health exposure, LOS has not previously nor in the future plans to provide such a space. Also any exhibitors that so choose may use the disinfectant and paper towels that are placed throughout the show hall. In fact we recommend that you santize any area you may be exposing your ferret to. No show is 100% risk free but it is the goal of LOS to provide as clean an environment as possible for all ferrets within the show hall. |
