I'm taking charge.. once and for all! ((Or at least trying to))

Welcome To

My Personal Journal!

As of October 20th my weight is back up to now 252 pounds!! (After previously going from 310 pounds to 210) I have been off plan for quite some time starting and failing.. starting and failing. This is like my millionth attempt.

Udate: CURRENT WEIGHT: January 7th: 228! Not much progress over holidays!

Hello! My name is April. I'm 34 years old and had ENOUGH of being FAT!  I've set a goal for myself to shed 160 pounds! To date, I have lost 100 pounds but because I was not faithful with sticking to plan these past several months .. I have gained quite a bit back. I totally regret doing that but at the same time, I know life happens! I had other things in my life going on with my kids starting school, starting a new job, having loved ones far away from home and doing things like working on my home, my focus has been completely off! Anyhow.. Instead of giving up completely.. I decided to give this another go before I end up back to where I started to begin with. So, here I go.. yet again.

Today  (October 20th).. I'm currently at 252 pounds so my progress pics posted here DO NOT reflect my current weight! I am back to the 250's area from 210!! Sad I know.. but what can I do about it now.. but just start again.

I thought about deleting the pics, but decided against it. They motivate me when I go back from time to time and look at them, so will keep them posted for now. What I will do is.. in the next coming weeks, update with NEW pics and just use my current weight from today, and go from there. But please understand that I AM NOT at 210 pounds today.. I'm needing a restart! So, with that said.. I'd like to give this another go! (update: working on updating pics)

A bit about me: I started on my weight loss journey back in June of 2006. This web-site is where I have been trying to document my experience as a way of keeping myself motivated and focused on my goals and eating plan. I was doing well however these last few months... not so hot! I decided to START FRESH -- I really need to put the past behind and focus on the future!

The diet plan I previously did was Kimkins - It did work for me when I could stay strict and I enjoyed it very much but it was VERY HARD for me to stick to over the long haul.  However more importantly, with all the new reports coming out about Kimkins being a fraud and all the investigations going on and evidence posted around the net exposing Kimmer.. (which at first I didn't want to believe.. but I think it's pretty safe to say now that it's all true.. and I am very shocked and upset because I was one who trusted Kimmer and gave her the benefit of the doubt.. I wanted to believe she would come out as a shining star in the end!! But see that is not the case. )

So before I go on, I would like to aplogize to anyone and everyone I may have encouraged to give Kimkins a try. Please understand that I no longer feel the same about Kimkins after having the light shed on me.. esp over the past few days of doing some hard researching online about the whole controversy and reading about the evidence against her.. what an eyeopener. I feel terrible and please know I am VERY VERY SORRY!! I was (as we all were) completely mislead - believing Kimkins was genuine & trustworthy. Esp because it was working for me when so many times I've failed...  I wanted to believe it all the more.

This website here was what really sent me over the edge. You can't argue with it, I couldn't believe my eyes: http://winningweight.blogspot.com/

I decided there is going to be no turning back.. and  that I had to break all ties with Kimkins all together -- I therefore removed my reviews I wrote sharing my opinion of the plan (both good and bad)  from off my site and removed them from EzineArticles and I will continue to do my best to remove all others that have been posted online as a result of them being origionally posted on Ezine. Please understand I no longer agree with them & would never encourage other's to try Kimkins knowing what I know now.. I removed all Kimkins links from off my site & I will not be returning to her site any longer as well. I will no longer be doing Kimkins eating plan or sharing information about it with others when asked about my weight loss .. and I would strongly caution others if you're still considering trying Kimkins!! Take time to do the research like I did.

Which reminds me.. I also really need to apologize to everyone who in the past have tried to caution me through posts in my guestbook or loving emails. I thought you were all being too quick to jump to conclusions about Kimkins and I kinda just blew you off. Esp because one of the hot topics was if the success story pics were real or not.. I didn't worry about that so much because I knew that "MY PROGRESS PICS WERE REAL" and that's all the proof I needed. I knew the plan worked as far as that goes. At the time I didn't have time to do the research to find out the truth for myself so was unsure how to respond.. I am so sorry I did not take you seriously. I see now that you were very right. Thank you for keeping after me. Please please please forgive me.

Anyhow.. It took me quite some time to come up with the direction I wanted to go in because all in all, I'm still well over 200 pounds and need to lose this weight!!  I've done low carb for so long... I think that was part of my problem for taking so long to get back on plan after binge eating these past few months, I just totally lost my interest in low carbing all together - even though I know it works when I stick to it.

There was also no way I was going back to the whole low fat (weight watchers) way of eating either because I've tried to do that my whole life and just ate my way up the scale.. I just need something new to focus on and something to re-energize me and get me excited about losing weight again - something that was going to work and just get the job done once and for all.

I came across this one website some time ago and learned about the Cambridge Diet. I read about thousands of people that have been doing this plan and have had great success with losing weight and got really excited about the whole idea of it all.  I did lots of research on it and I know it's an older diet plan from back in the day but I really loved the simplicity of it all and how it's been a great alternative for those that were looking into gastric bypass surgery like myself. Being at my own wits end, I decided to go ahead & give this a try.

Today is DAY 1 on plan for me. I'm excited to see how things go from here. What I'll do is post my progress starting from today OCTOBER 20th and update it every WEEK on Saturday's (my weigh in day). I'll update my pics as I go too and just pick up where I left off.  November 3rd -- NEW UPDATE.. Ok.. tried Cambridge for a few weeks.. I did lose 8 pounds but discovered I can't do it.. it's WAYYYYY to strict of a weight loss plan for me.. .. I need to "eat".. so... with that said.. SCRATCH THE CAMBRIDGE IDEA.. LOL.. It's not for me. Soooooooo.... back to basic low carb from here on out. ... Live and learn. (Why is this whole weigh loss thing gotta be so hard!! I'm ready to pull my hair out!!)

Anyhow.. as always, the purpose of this site is to hopefully help me keep my focus on my goals.  I can't put this off any longer, I need to start somewhere - again & FRESH AND NEW! If you're visiting, I hope in some way you'll be encouraged to keep going in your own weight loss journey no matter what road your taking. One day and one pound at a time.. we can do it!

NOTE: I am currently working on updating my site trying to make sense of all the new changes.. please give me some time to get it all worked out. What a mess!
