In Ireland, there are many beliefs and superstitions passed on generation to generation based on ancient lore. One of these is the belief in the Tuatha De Dana, the legendary folk of Celtic mythology who were the first people of Ireland. 'Tis said the Tuatha De Dana still walk the earth today - especially in Ireland - although we cannot always see them. They are those lovely, etheral beings we call faeries.
Sacred leys known as faerie paths grace the beautiful Irish countryside. They are oft found near ancient ruins and are said to link these magical places with other sites of power - places like Newgrange and Tara. Some story tellers call them portals, others faerie rings. It is said that once one enters a faerie ring, he or she can be transported almost anywhere - in this world or even through the dimensions of time and space.
These portals often take the shape of mounds covered with beautiful flowers. Other times, they are simply grassy bumps in a farmer's field.
But none the less, leys are found scrattered across the mystical island - near stone circles, the deserted remains of castle keeps and in many other unlikely places.
Perhaps there is even one here ...
Will you dare to follow it and see where it leads?
