Louella Parsons was a friend of Mabel Normand, in her autobiography published in 1944 called Gay Illiterate, she writes of her friend, who had been gone for about 15 years but was still a fond and tender memory.

Edna's Tennis game
I had forgotten that I had a photo of our Mabel with a tennis racket until I was bemoaning the lack of one to Delores and she said I had sent her one! And sure enough I had it in my folder! So although we have a picture of her playing I don’t have one of her with Edna. In the 1918 June issues of The Photo-Play World, I found a group of images of Edna Purviance and Minnie Mai playing but since Mabel and Edna were good friends and I have a couple of articles were Mabel mentions tennis, even one that says she had won a couple of tennis awards in Los Angeles. It just might be that these, bright little stars may have played together.
