THE LONG RIDE 2008
THE GREATEST MOTORCYCLE RIDE IN SUPPORT OF
Mission: To invite motor cycle riders throughout Australia to participate in the Long Ride 2008 to raise funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia. The Long Ride 2008 begins in some areas on 14 Oct 08 due to the distances involved, however, Saturday and Sunday 18/19 October 2008 is designated Long Ride For Prostate Weekend. If you cannot do the entire trip to Perth, ride one of the routes on the Saturday and Sunday to support this most worthy cause. We need to get all motorcyclists on the road that weekend to support the PCFA and our men. Contact christopher.dunne@bigpond.com.au or look at the admin sheet and fill in your details and email back to that email address when you decide to participate.
Reason: Do you need to do something different, if so then get on your bike and join us in exploring the great open roads to Perth. If you need a reason, then here is the opportunity to contribute your time and friendship to a great many people.
Contribution: All riders participating are requested to donate $50.00 to the Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia as a registration. This donation will give you unlimited time on the road and a sore bum, you will make a lot of new friends, visit towns that you would possibly never visit, meet locals who will talk your head off, swap stories and tell as many tall stories as you will, drink with like minded riders in very old pubs. Ring 0419279337 for more details or go to the website at the bottom of this page.
Conduct: In October 2008, the Long Ride will begin. It will begin with an early breakfast at home in the suburbs, a quick check of the bike and gear, a kiss and a wave to those left at home. Along the way out of town, you will join others eager for the open road and the adventure to unfold. Across Australia, on different days depending on the route, riders will gather gradually to a great number on the Long Ride to Perth. Riders from all States will meet up at Port Augusta. When all are assembled the Long Riders will mass for the final leg to Perth across the Nullarbor, and some of the best scenery in the world. Book early to ensure accommodation across the Nullarbor, see the admin and accommodation sheet.
