St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Broughdale
1204 Richmond St, London, Ontario

St. Luke’s Church, Broughdale is an intimate parish near the gates of the University of Western Ontario. It has been described as a 'Country Parish which happens to find itself in the middle of a city'. Members of many denominations in Broughdale built St. Luke’s and it is a community Church using Anglican rites and rituals. There is a diverse mix of all ages, races and backgrounds on the parish list.

Most of the parishioners prefer the Book of Common Prayer and normally the services are from this book. The church is blessed with an excellent choir director, organist and choir. Singing in the choir is an enriching experience and because of the pace of student life and modern life, attendance at practices is casual.

The church is a little over 100 years old. The decision to build St. Luke’s Broughdale was taken early in February of 1906, by a group of men led by Archdeacon James Banning Richardson, Rector of St. John’s Arva. There was a real need for a small parish church for the growing subdivision of Brough, as many of the local Anglicans were attending the nearby mission church (now Robinson Memorial United Church). The foundation stone was laid on July 2nd 1906. The church of St. Luke the Evangelist in Broughdale was officially dedicated and opened for worship 4 months later on November 1st, All Saints' Day, in 1906.
