Story of 2007/08...

The Season started with high hopes of a quick return to the A division after we were relegated to the B division following a league re-shuffle, this was born out in our first game after a 6-0 win over local rivals Warsash Wasps in the first round of the Hampshire cup. Early season defeats to eventual champions Stubbington both by the odd goal saw these hopes somewhat dashed.

League wins over Whitley and Waltham Wolves Red saw our confidence regained. In the Third round of the Hampshire Cup we play against A division high filers Bishops Waltham Dynamos but although we lost the game 3-1 we were much the better side for long periods of the match. With a return to league action, we once again were winning games and scoring goals, wins over Lee Rangers 5-1, and Headley youth 11-0 saw us climbing the table.

The home game against Waltham Wolves Blue was probably the turning point for our season, racing into a 3-0 lead in the fist ten minutes, but eventually being lucky to get away with a 4-4 draw saw us drop to mid table. League and League cup defeats to Ranvilles follow on from this disappointment. Confidence was soon restored after a 16-0 win over Headley (our best ever result) and an away win at Liss Athletic saw us regain some ground on the leaders.

A close end to the season saw us finish a creditable fourth. Well done and well played to all the boys for there efforts this season, especially James Harris who finished a top scorer, James Thomas for 9 goals from midfield, and Mitchell Stamford for a good debut season between the sticks.

Unfortunately next season we will be without Ross Bailey and Jordan Chalk who have left to join other clubs and Alex Anderson – Get well Soon.
