This is a very well written story. It is quite a fairytale full of imagery and interesting characters. In a kingdom named Scottshire, a king and a queen have a son named Adrik. In another part of the kingdom, a young man from foreign soil named Amir falls in love with a maiden named Fiona. However, since the villages protest their love and union, the couple flee to the forest, finding an idyllic place to build a small home. They have a baby daughter who later becomes Adrik’s bride and a princess. The son they have, Darius, is stolen by the wizard Rupert when he’s one year old.  Going to another village and raising the boy as his grandson, the real purpose of the kidnapping soon comes to light. Darius becomes a Dragon Keeper, when he inherits the eggs of three dragons. The creatures love Darius and he in turn loves the dragons. He finds out about himself when he becomes ten years old, and also learns of the tragedy that befalls his village kingdom of Scottshire…Can the young Prince be exactly what his hurting kingdom needs to save it? Find out by reading this luscious story. It is truly a five star book.

I thought this was a very well written tale that reminds me of a movie about dragons. The description of the dragons is so realistic, that you actually would like to have one for a pet!

Darius Prince of Legend is a very interesting and fast moving book.I really enjoyed this book a lot and I think older children will also find this book quite enjoyable.I am not sure it will be a book that an 8 year old can easily read with some of the larger vocabulary words but it is a great book for a parent to sit down and read with a child that age. This book most definately keeps your interest and it is very exciting with all the dragons, castles and wizardry!
In Darius Prince of Legend the wizard actually touched my heart in the story....he started out as a bad guy but he turns out to be someone who has taught Darius all about life and about lessons he needs to take control of his life and his future.
This is not just about wizards and castles but about self confidence, love, believing in yourself...caring and nurturing after the dragons...(others).Many good qualities to have...
I liked Darius Prince of Legend a lot...I read the entire story to my 13 year old daughter who kept asking me to read it louder and asking me to wait so she wouldn't miss any part of it...so I think that's a pretty good clue that she indeed liked it a lot!!
I give it 5 stars!! I can't wait to see your illustrations LM they are really going to enhance this and make kids love it even more...if that's possible! Job well done!!
Congrats!! MJ

Review of Darius Prince of Legend

Fantasy author Robert W. Watt

The storyline is a continuous line of fabulous characters running in a colorful world of good and bad things happening, but never gets so bad that it is critical. It is a wonderful story that can be easily read to children from the age of three to eight years old. After they are eight they will have the benefit of reading the beautiful Arthurian tale themselves. The part that strikes me the most is when the eggs hatch and the dragons make themselves known. Now I have not reviewed the finished book with the  art work done by the illustrator, but I am certain that it will be an excellent and wonderfully put together presentation. I will own this book to put in my extensive collection of fantasy books.  It is for certain a five-star reviewed book as far as I am concerned. Robert W. Watt. This is the type of tale that Disney would be proud to put on the wide screen.  It would be good to read to younger children and preteens having trouble with reading skills and vocabulary. In my opinion, it is excellent reading material for early teens.  It has good appeal in the story line, and it should delight children, teaching them a little about the good and evil that exists in the world.

To her credit, Ms. Owens does not focus on the wizard or the magic, but more on the true human elements that make up a sense of right and wrong and give one a sense of compassion. Although the ending is quite predictable to an adult, it seems quite fitting for a book aimed at the interests of a child.  I would definitely recommend it, especially for those between the ages of eight and thirteen.

More comments from MJ Daley-Prado about her 13 yr old daughter liking Darius Prince of Legend...

She did LM...I purposely wanted to read it with her so I could get a child's view since it was a child's book.It was funny because at first she thought she wasn't going to like it but then she kept saying more ,more...and can you read it louder??  (She didn't want to skip a beat!  She loved the book and I know other kids will too.She kept asking me about Cenia and she was really into the dragons (especially when Darius found the eggs and the dragons were born). You have a great book and kids all over the world are going to really love it! It's very magical...and I have to tell you.I didn't mention it last night but being the big sap that I am I actually cried when the wizard told Darius who he was. It was very touching! I hope it sells lots of copies!! one other thing that i wanted to add....this is a book for all ages.I am 49 and I enjoyed it! It's not just for children!! So there!
 Best wishes!!MJ

Comments from author Robert W Watt and his wife...

Dear L-M,
Julie read your book, and I read it again today. I just wanted you to know that you are a very descriptive and detailed author. Although it is short compared to the other fantasy novels that I have read your is still as far as I am concerned one of the best that I have read. Your characters live and breath as they go through their trials and turbulations in a world that you can visualize and that becomes reality in a reader's mind. You have a gift!!! I think that you should challenge yourself by writing a long length series. I know that my first novel in "The Tantalizing Powers of Magic and War was what I call "SHORT." The rest of the novels are going to be full-length manuscipt with the finished produce being five hundred page or more. So, here is some food for thought. I know that you enjoy writing children's fantasy, but why don't you give yourself a challenge to complete a full-length fantasy series. I am certain that it will be well written, original, and very satisfying to read. A NEW YEAR"S RESOLUTION!!! CHALLENGE YOURSELF. You all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!! Your faithful friends and readers, BOB AND JULIE!!!
