The Darius Trilogy & Other Works

Adrik was at a loss, there was no one to help him fend off the easterners who where terrorizing his kingdom.  His people were starving and there was only a few hundred euries left in the royal treasury.  The King was heartbroken.  All he wanted to do was love and enjoy his son.  He wanted to get to know the boy who was taken from him all those years before but he couldn’t.  He had to do something, and do it fast or his kingdom would fall into the hands of the easterners and their evil king.  He and his family would be executed and his people would be enslaved.

Chapter III

"Alright Darius Wolferton Prince of Scottshire, how much magic do you know?" asked Omni staring at the crystal ball.  "Um, well Omni, I don’t know any magic really.  I know herbs and medicines and some potions, that’s about all."   "So you don’t know how to use that crystal ball?"  "No, no I don’t Omni."  The boys sat at the table and gazed into the orb.  They were quite amused by the way the smooth clear ball magnified their surroundings when they looked through it.  Omni put his hands around the cool surface of the crystal.  Nothing happened.   "I guess you’re no wizard." Darius laughed.  Omni laughed too and urged Darius to touch the ball.   Darius cupped his hands around the flawless transparent sphere.  Suddenly the inside of the ball clouded up, startled Darius pulled his hands away.  "Did you see that Darius?  Something happened!  Do it again Darius!" screeched Omni with excitement.  Once again Darius place his hands around the crystal ball, and once again, it clouded up.  As Darius kept his hands on the ball the brown and grey clouds began to swirl around.  Remembering Rupert’s technique, Darius raised his hands ever so slowly away from the orb’s surface.  When his hands reached about 4 inches away from the sphere the clouds started to form an image.  In total awe the two boys watched as the image became more and more clear.  Darius moved his hands back and forth and around the ball fine tuning the image.  "Who is that Darius?" asked Omni as he stared at the vivid image inside the crystal ball.   "It’s Igmorton." answered Darius.
