Here at Llancelyn we keep various Pure Breed Chickens, our main breed being the Welsummer.
We started out with this Hobby around 18 months ago and our love for these tremendous creatures has grown rapidly!
Our flock free range on a piece of land that we own in South Wales which comprises of 2 small fields with a woodland to the rear of the land and a beautiful brook running through.
We hatch out chicks from our own birds quite frequently, these are then given lots of attention and handling from day one to make tame and friendly birds who enjoy human company, making them Perfect Pets.

We keep the darker egg laying strain of Welsummer, you will see a picture of some of our deep conker colour eggs in the Gallery section. These don't lay as many eggs each year as the utility strain. However we are pleased with the results so far reached and plan to experiment with the colour and hopefully improve on it over the next few seasons. We also hope to be able to offer these dark eggs for purchase shortly when we have slightly better fertility results.
Please note that this is a non-profit making family hobby that has increased immensely over the last few months, however any monies from sale of stock is spent on the upkeep of our birds, including - feed, fresh bedding, improvements to their houses and ground along with the addition of the odd new friend!
