In Zambia, like many other "third world" countries, the needs go well beyond anything we experience in the West. Families often eke out an existence through subsistence farming just to provide the most minimal amount of food to survive. Children may not attend school because their parents cannot afford the school fees and cost of a uniform. Many children have been orphaned by AIDS and must survive on their own. There is 65% unemployment and even if a person is working the average salary is only $3.00 per day.

Much of this hardship comes from a history of exploitation; first during the evil of the slave trade, then by colonization which took the people's land and ultimately made them slaves in their own country. Western and European companies continue to profit from the resources of mining and the production of cheap goods while leaving African governments saddled with enormous debt.
Despite these adversities, Zambia is a peaceful nation with a stable government.

The Livingstone Performing Arts Foundation (LiPAF) will not only provide employment for as many as 40 individuals but the performances will generate a significant profit to sponsor programs in schools, assist the hospital, town library and sports teams, and provide direct assistance to needy families. Unlike many other charitable organizations, the LiPAF will operate like a business that will be self-sustaining. As a result, your one-time donation is all that will be needed.

You can be assured that 100% of your donation goes to the people of Zambia. We cannot thank you enough for your support and assistance.
