LIVINGSTONE ANTIQUES
Was created in 1999...After much thought on what to do with my life after the child rearing days were over and everyone went to their stations in life, I knew it was time for me to blossom....So I am in an atmosphere of creativity....I can and always do whatever I want...Everything around me gives me inspiration...I am surrounded by the past--the antiques, the present--things I create, and the future--classes I teach or furniture I will upholster next week...
The name LIVINGSTONE comes from my son--PAUL LIVINGSTONE--It was his middle name, as it was my Father's...It was also in my husband's side of our family...they came from Scotland generations back...My son died in 1994...God took the ashes of our tradegy and built a future and a memorial...I guess that is why my friends or new acquaintances are welcome to a cup of "tea" at any given moment...also to share hurts and accomplishments...
My love for sewing is part of the shop, evident in "MY LITTLE APRONS."
The shop is set up quite uniquely. The areas are all named after a grandchild, etc, and each are specialized. They will all be accomplished by their own little story. Each area contains the product associated with the name.
CECILIA AND PEYTON'S COSTUME RENTAL SHOP is a highlight for children visiting the shop...You may encounter a lion or a horse, but don't be frightened, inside is just a little monkey...Everything is for rent and you can put on a costume and have your picture taken in STEPHON'S STUDIO, which is filled with pictures and frames.
My next room, JOHNSON'S ECONOMY STORE, is named after CHARLIE JOHNSON-who had a store in Entriken, Pa...It was our fun place to go...The candy shop was our big treat. Charlie is in his 90's now and still going strong...He can quote Per Batum--a poem , 3 pages long that he learned in his one room schoolhouse...
LIVINGSTONE'S CASTLE is an area where children can play and have parties. It is set up with 2 castles inside the area for children. We will have planned parties with Teas. They will also be able to put on dress-up clothes.
GABES GARAGE is a man's area. LINNET'S LINENS is full of linens, pillows, and old Chenilles. KETURAH'S KITCHEN is a 1940's kitchen. ADDY'S ATTIC, MORGAN'S MUSIC, TESSA'S HAT EMPORIUM, VICTORIA'S GARDEN, CELESTE'S CLASSROOM, KAYLEIGH'S JEWELRY KINGDOM, PAUL'S PARLOR, MICHAEL'S MUSEUM, NATASHA'S NURSERY are filled and IRENE'S ISLAND is an area which is filled with my 80 year old mothers handmade Raggedy's and quilts.
SWOOZIE'S WORKROOM is the place where I work. I upholster, refinish wood furniture, and recane chairs. This place will also be used for teaching the arts.
I have a team of people who are helping me with LIVINGSTONE PLAYS. We are doing them in the local theater, the Clifton. It is has been a lot of fun and we are teaching history through it. March was the Irish Play. And April was Vintage Vaudeville and Steel Magnolias will be in June. We are trying to do one a mont
The scripture God has given me is 1PETER 2:4,5 COMING TO HIM AS TO A LIVING STONE REJECTED BY MEN, BUT CHOSEN BY GOD AND PRECIOUS, YOU ALSO, AS LIVING STONES, ARE BEING BUILT UP A SPIRITUAL HOUSE, A HOLY PRIESTHOOD, TO OFFER UP SPIRITUAL SACRIFICES ACCEPTABLE TO GOD THROUGH JESUS CHRIST.
The shop is also dedicated to my grandson, COLBY LEVI HOOVER, who passed away in a car accident in 1993...He was my first grandchild and though his journey on this earth was short (only 4 years), he accomplished more than a lot of people who live much longer...
