Azure Dreams

Saccharine Harmony

A sound upon the wind

A faint note

A calling in my soul

Erie, chilling, erotic

A saccharine harmony on the wind

Twisting and dancing through the air

Indefinable, passing through like a ghost

A chill upon the soul

So sweet and true

This soft whisper of something more

I have far from the best music background, and was “musically deprived” for many years, unaware of all of the big bands and such cultural things. Thanks to the efforts of a few of my friends a few years back I finally started listening to songs. I was a sponge for many years, soaking up the tastes in music that my friends around me had. However, now I have a large variety of songs I listen to, and while probably comparatively small to most people, I felt that it was time to try and sort through them. My current goal is to try to put up a list of my 10 favorite songs for you here, and it is turning out to be a very large task, considering the number of songs that I enjoy listening to.

However, even if I am still working on it, you can see some of my current thoughts below. In addition to each song I provide an explanation of why I like it and why it is there. They are in no particular order. Although I don’t think this page will be done anytime soon, you are welcome to check back.

Attempted favorites list

Five for Fighting: Superman

I love this song. Maybe some would consider it despressing, but I like it. I think that it says that no one is perfect, that to place such restrictions on someone is unreal. Everyone has the right to dream, and feel pain, and have emotion. Even idols are not perfect, we jst project that on them. It’s a very sweet song.

Evanessence: My Immortal

The first song I heard by Evanessecne, I still consider it to be their best. It is sad, yes, but sweet, and very touching. It fills the listener with emotion, and carries them along with the song until the end.

Dido: Thank You

This song holds a special relevance to me. There was a hard time for me, when I felt that each day would never end, and about midway through I felt like crying, or just falling down. It lasted for about a week. This is one of the things that kept me going, and I can relate. A good friend of mine was able to make me smile just by seeing him. Each day I would figure this time he wouldn’t be able to, but the mere sight of him made my gloom vanish. In the morning, I would get out of bed because I knew he would be there. I don’t think he knew how much that meant to me, or even if he was aware that he was doing anything, but this song makes me think of him. I thank him.

Just Jack: Writer’s Block

A smooth beginning, which gives way to a nice paced music. I think that a writer can relate to this song, at least the beginning. I think that it repeats a bit, but the repetition is counter balanced by new lyrics. Through it all the pace keeps the listener captivated and far from bored.

Carrie Underwood: Before He Cheats

I love this song. It’s violent, destructive, but I like it =3 On a deeper note, it makes me wonder weather or not there should be a legal penalty for cheating. There are consequences for hurting a person physically, should there be for hurting a person emotionally? That hurt is equally potent as any physical harm, just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it isn’t there. However, in this case she would be the one to get in serious trouble with the law for what she did. He gets away scott-free, because he’ll have insurance. That doesn’t seem fair. Yet if there were laws against cheating and/or emotional harm in a relationship, how would it be determined? Can a value for punishment really be put on that? And how could it be enforced? It would just be word against word. It would be really weird if you had to register to date someone, and there were “codes of conduct” which would have consequences if violated. At any rate, this is a good venting song, so instead of going out to ransack his car, I suggest you just click this on.
