Litcham U13s rounded off their season in style as they completed 'The Double' by beating Downham in the Mid Norfolk Cup Final. Lat week Litcham sealed the Division Two title with an emphatic 7-0 victory at Leverington. The Cup Final was to be a far more tense affair. Litcham started the stronger team and took the lead when Alfie Shayes released Seb White to fire home. Downham came back into the game but with Ben Edwards, Cameron Bear and Danial Edwards in outstanding form at the back Litcham held on. On the stroke of half time Downham finnaly grabbed an equaliser. The second half saw Litcham again start brightly and a strong run by Mitchell McCormack led to Harry Read scoring at the far post. Again Downham came back and equalised only for Seb White to put Litcham ahead 3-2. Downham looked to be frustrated as keeper Matthew Gilbert pulled off a series of tremendous saves. However, finally Downham snatched an equaliser and forced extra time. Lewis Fuller showed fantastic committment as he continued to win nearly every ball in midfield as players on both sides tired. Litcham had a good chance to seal the win but the final whistle blew and the trauma of penalties arrived. Litcham kept their cool and, as a Downham penalty hit the bar, celebrated a magnificent win. Well done to the whole squad and to Ellen, Garry and David who have helped the boys achieve so much in recent seasons.
