Agahnim

Agahnim was a wandering wizard who assisted the Royal Family at a time when Hyrule was plagued by flood, famine and disease. Agahnim played the role of trusted advisor for a time, but soon he displayed his true colors and seized power for himself. After imprisoning the Seven Sages and Princess Zelda, Agahnim used his magic to break the seal which imprisoned Ganon in the Dark World. Agahnim was defeated by his own dark magic thanks to Link's quick thinking.

Agahnim's Shadow

During Link's final battle in Koholint Island's Wind Fish Egg, he faced a series of dark guardians which were shadows of his former foes. The second of these creatures to appear was Agahnim's Shadow, which Link defeated by deflecting its magical attacks with his sword.

The All-Night Mask allows its owner to stay awake. Link used this mask to keep his eyes open during Anju's Grandmother's stories.

Found on Koholint Island, the Angler's Tunnel is one of the eight dungeons Link conquered during his quest to wake the Wind Fish. In the Tunnel, Link found the Flippers and defeated the Angler Fish to get the Surf Harp.

Anju is the name of a sweet but scatter-brained woman who ran the Stock-Pot Inn during Link's quest to save Termina.

Known as "Granny" to her friends, this kind old woman spent her golden years telling fabulous tales in the Stock Pot Inn. To calm his nerves and pass the time, Link would often visit this sweet old lady.

Arrghus was the guardian of the Swamp Palace, where Link recovered a magical Crystal on his quest to unlock the entrance to Ganon's Tower. Arrghus was a massive one-eyed jellyfish surrounded by a teeming mass of puffy offspring.

Link's adoring little sister was named Aryll. Aryll was kidnapped by a monstrous bird on her big brother's birthday, and when Link set out to rescue her, he unwittingly set an adventurous chain of events into motion.

Baby Dodongos

Unlike other infants of the animal world, these worm-like monsters are anything but cute. Justwhen their victims expect it least, a gang of Baby Dodongos can tunnel out of the ground and hungrily attack.

Similar to Hyrulean Keese, Bad Bats are nocturnal creatures who fill Termina's night sky. They primarily dine on small mammals, but Bad Bats have been known to attack larger creatures when they have not eaten in a while.

Ballad of the Wind Fish

When Link was stranded on Koholint Island, his main objective was to awaken the Wind Fish. By playing the Ballad of the Wind Fish at the proper location, Link was able to reach his goal.

During his adventure on Koholint Island, Link made Sale the Alligator very happy by giving him some Canned Dog Food. In return, Link received the Bananas. Link traded like this with many of the island's inhabitants, and in the end his kindness was rewarded with the Magnifying Glass.

Barba was the guardian of Three Eye Rock Palace, where Link recovered one of the six Magic Crystal shards necessary to rouse Princess Zelda from her unnatural slumber.

Bari are huge gelatinous masses equipped with an electric offensive attack. They hide above their prey, and drop down on individuals who wander across their path. Bari are parasitic creatures who can only survive inside the body of a living host.

Barinade is the name of the monstrous parasite which Link had to manually remove from Lord Jabu-Jabu's belly. A nucleus of throbbing nerves surrounded by a living shell of Bari, Barinade proved to be challenging foe for Link to defeat.

Battle Bats is the name given to the six Keese controlled by the Grim Creeper in Eagle's Tower.

A small shop which sells a variety of wares. Bazaars are found commonly throughout Hyrule and Termina.

Beamos

The lone eye of the Beamos is constantly surveying its territory, on the look-out for intruders to fry with a blast from its white-hot laser. Although Beamos installations are firmly connected to the ground, their laser attacks can move in all directions while searching for a target to skewer.

Beaver Bros.

The Beaver Bros. were a comical duo who once lived atop the Waterfall Rapids in Termina's Great Bay Coast. They innocently challenged Link to a race, not realizing that they were writing themselves a place in Terminan history.

Big Octos live in Termina's Southern Swamp. They are exact replicas of their Octorok cousins, but about ten times as large.

Big Poes are similar to the ghosts which haunt graveyards in Hyrule and Termina, but they are much larger and significantly more threatening.

Big Poe was a huge ghost which Link encountered while adventuring in the swamps of Hyrule. The Big Poe's only vulnerability was its inability to tolerate light.

Once trapped within a weather vane in Kakariko Village, Link freed the bird by playing his magical flute near the frozen statue. Once freed, the bird displayed its gratitude by flying Link to many locations throughout Hyrule.

Biri are very similar to jellyfish, but they float through the air rather than underwater. They drift around in the body of a host, searching for a meal to ingest. When challenged, they stun their victims with a shocking bolt of electricity.

Bits are red gelatinous blobs which mindlessly search for food by bouncing along the ground.

Blaino

Blaino lived in the Turtle Rock Dungeon on Koholint Island, where he ceaselessly practiced boxing. When Link explored that dungeon in search of the Thunder Drum, Blain made the unfortunate mistake of picking a fight with Link.

Blast Mask

The Blast Mask allows its owner to detonate the mask to cause a large explosion. Unfortunately, the person wearing the Blast Mask will be slightly harmed in the process.

Blind the Thief

Blind the Thief was the guardian of Blind's Dungeon, where Link recovered a magical Crystal on his quest to unlock the entrance to Ganon's Tower. Wearing a white robe, Blind was an evil demon who flew wildly around the room while attacking Link.

Blind's Dungeon

Found only in the Dark World, Blind's Dungeon is one of the seven Palaces Link explored during his quest to recover the Crystals necessary to unlock Ganon's Tower. Within its walls, Link found the Titan's Mitt and defeated the dungeon guardian named Blind the Thief.

Resembling a cross between an octopus and a squid, Bloobers plague the deep waterways of Koholint Island. They mean no harm, but an involuntary reaction causes them to inflict a poisonous sting on anyone who touches them.

Driven by evil, Blue Bubbles are mindless skulls propelled by bat wings. Blue fire is their main defense, which can be extinguished with a shield.

This magical song possessed the power to transport Link directly to Death Mountain Crater whenever he played it correctly on the Ocarina. According to ancient scrolls, the Bolero of Fire was played by pressing Down, A, Down, A, Right, Down, Right, Down.

Link encountered Bomb Eaters while exploring the Key Cavern and Face Shrine on Koholint Island. The Bomb Eaters knew that they would perish after eating just three Bombs, but their hunger for explosives made it impossible for them to resist the temptation to eat more.

The Bombchu is truly a marvel of Hyrulean engineering. Based on the mechanical mice that Hyrulean children frequently use to frighten their parents, Bombchus can climb walls and reach areas which are usually inaccessible. When they reach their goal, they explode in a fiery blast.

The Bombers Gang has existed in Clock Town for many years. The gang consists of young boys with little else to do than cause trouble and goof around. Whenever a member of the Bombers Gang decides to quit the group and make something of himself, a new recruit is added. Generally, the Bombers Gang has always consisted of five members.

The Bombers Gang is a very social organization. They make so many friends and appointments that they need a special notebook to keep track of them all. Link made ample use of his Bombers' Notebook by using it to keep track of the troubled people he promised to help.

Koholint Island is home to two different kinds of living Bombites. One counts down from three before exploding, and the other ricochets around the room before blowing up.

The Bombos Medallion is a golden seal carved with a magical swirling symbol. When used, it has the power to greatly damage any enemies in the vicinity.

For ages, Bongo Bongo haunted the halls of the Shadow Temple. This muscle-bound creature beat ceaseless on a gargantuan drum, keeping a watchful eye on the Temple and pounding any intruders with massive, five-fingered hands.

Bonooru began his life as a humble scarecrow, but when Link crossed his path he instantly found a place in Hyrulean history. When Link played the Scarecrow's Song on the Ocarina, Bonooru would appear to give Link a sturdy target to use for his Hookshot.

Boo Buddies

Link encountered the Boo Buddies while exploring the Bottle Grotto on Koholint Island. They were invisible at first, but when Link lit the braziers in the room they became vulnerable to attack.

Book of Mudora

As generation followed generation, the Hyrulean language changed along with society. The stone tables inscribed by earlier generations of Hylians in their ancient tongue became unreadable for modern Hylians. Some Hyrulean descendants consult the Book of Mudora in the Library just south of Kakariko Village to translate the messages they find within its pages.

Boomerang

The Boomerang is an ancient weapon, and Link is well-known as one of the most accurate Boomerang throwers that Hyrule has ever seen. A well-thrown Boomerang can stun most enemies, or even defeat some of the weaker wild animals which inhabit Hyrule.

BowWow

Madam MeowMeow, who lived in Mabe Village on Koholint Island, had a pet BowWow. When BowWow was kidnapped by a gang of Moblins, Link rescued the affectionate creature. When enchanted with the power of the Four Sword, Link sometimes used trained BowWows to attack his enemies. Other times, Link encountered BowWows in the wild and discovered that they were far from tame.

Elder Hyrulean magicians traditionally used canes to focus their magical power. The Cane of Byrna has survived the years and still posses a great deal of supernatural strength. When called upon, the Cane of Byrna creates a temporary force-field around the person holding it.

The Cane of Pacci is a mysterious item which fires a powerful bolt that can flip whatever it hits, including platforms, vases and even some enemies.

It is well documented that ancient magicians needed a physical symbol to channel their magical powers from the supernatural realm to the physical world. The Cane of Somaria was one of these symbols. When called upon, the Cane of Somaria has the power to create heavy stones which can be used for a variety of purposes.

Captain Keeta was a sound-sleeping skeleton who once lived in the Ikana Graveyard. Link defeated Captain Keeta in a race, and was rewarded with the Captain's Hat.

Seeking to defile the power of the Triforce, Ganon was able to break free on numerous occasions. Luckily, Link and the Seven Sages were able to repel his advances each time. Still, the threat of Ganon's return always lingers just below the surface of Hyrule's peaceful landscape.

Hylians are an elf-like race of people who first established an ordered civilization in Hyrule. Famous Hylians include Princess Zelda and Link. The Hylians' long, sculpted ears enable them to hear special messages. As the chosen people, they are also given unique psychic and magical abilities.
Traditional Hyrulean dress is simple and functional. Men belt leather jerkins at the waist, and women slip into straight, ankle-length gowns. Although simple of design, Hyrulean dresses and tunics are often embellished with brightly colored, hand-stitched borders that make them look almost festive.

When working outside, Hyrulean men often wear broad-brimmed hats that protect them from sun and rain. Also, the men always wear sturdy, cuffed leather boots that reach to the knees. For the women, artisans craft delicate golden earrings, bracelets and necklaces. Images of Hyrulean legends are often included in the design.

It is possible that we would know nothing of Termina's existence if Link had not been led there by the mischevious actions of Skull Kid. Termina is very similar to Hyrule, but at the same time extremely different.

Zora's River

To the east of Kakariko Village flows a river of sacred water from Zora's Fountain. Known as Zora's River, this narrow waterway leads from Hyrule Field all the way to Zora's Domain. This water source provides nearly 90% of the water supply for Hyrule.

Zora's Sapphire is a Spiritual Stone which, when combined with two others, was once able to open the door to the Golden Land in the Temple of Time. Link recovered the Zora's Sapphire after defeating Barinade inside Lord Jabu-Jabu's Belly.
