Poem by Corey Mesler, Photo by Chris Drew

I went to the mountain

because I had tired

of telling the old story

to friends and not-friends.

The mountain did not

greet me. Nor did it even turn

when I approached.

I practice now every day.

The shade of the mountain

comes and goes.

I try to reason that it is right

for it to come and go.

The mountain taunts my reason.
