Omnitrix Aliens

Omnitrix

Omnitrix

Description

The Omnitrix is a watch-shaped, alien device. When the button on the side is pressed, the face pops up and shows a silhouette of an alien. The face can then be twisted to select different aliens. By settling on a specific alien and pushing the face back down, the Omnitrix transforms the bearer into the alien they selected. After the transformation, the Omnitrix settles somewhere on the alien form, usually on the shoulder or chest, to act as a timer. Each form is listed in the sections below. When first discovered, the Omnitrix had ten specific aliens available. Other aliens have also been recently discovered, suggesting that it may carry a great many aliens within it.

The aliens the Omnitrix contains seem to currently exist in the galaxy, though where exactly they reside is not made clear. It would seem that these aliens are some of the most powerful in the galaxy, which is lifkely why they where added to the Omnitrix. A few have been featured in various episodes, most notably Hoverboard, who is a member of the race that Diamondhead belongs to, and Tiny, a female Tetramand. The names of some of their various home planets have also been revealed, though where exactly those planets are is still unclear.

The Omnitrix works by binding alien DNA to the hosts' genetic structure, effectively rewriting their DNA into the alien of their choice. It also seems to copy the clothing scheme of the user during the initial transformation. The Omnitrix only allows the wearer to occupy a form for a limited amount of time, which seems to vary between forms. Ten minutes seems to be a rough estimate for the total time, though abstract amounts occur every now and then, either being unusual highs or lows. When the Omnitrix is about to deactivate, it beeps and flashes red. When it finally deactivates, it remains red and is unusable until it recharges and turns green again. The recharge time varies between episodes. The reason for time limit is unknown, but likely has something to do with the capacity of whatever powers the device and triggers the genetic changes.

It has safeguards against outside tampering. Should anyone other than Ben attempt to remove it, it will emit a large feedback pulse that repels the assailant. Both Vilgax and Kevin have experienced this first-hand. On the other hand, those who know how to operate it can do so safely, regardless of whether or not the current user wants them to.

Porblems

The Omnitrix has been shown to have several problems, which range from merely annoying to severe. The most common of these is its tendency to implement the wrong change when activated, which it has done in just about every episode. There is no clear reason for this, as each instance had completely different outside factors (all though it seems to happen most often when Ben is trying to become the same alien twice in a row). It has also refused to activate on several occasions, actually resisting Ben's attempts to push the face down. The first time this happened, the following change lasted a very short time. On the second occasion, it lasted much longer than the Omnitrix usually allows, but this may have been due to how it was eventually activated.

The Omnitrix also reacts strangely to Earth-based contagions. When Ben caught a cold, it caused strange mutations in his alien forms. Wildmutt's nostrils were covered with mucus, preventing him from sensing anything. Fourarms skin became paler and he developed foul-smelling hives on his underarms. Heatblast had the most severe reaction. His body shifted from a mix of red and orange to red and blue, and his powers completely reversed, giving him control over ice instead of fire.

The Omnitrix also doesn't react well to excess energy. When overcharged, it begins switching the user from one form to another at random without reverting them to their normal form. This continues until it is shut down manually or the power normalizes.

Purpose

Both Vilgax and Hoverboard have described the Omnitrix as the ultimate weapon in an intergalactic struggle between good and evil. Though Ben's problems with the Omnitrix and its current limits make this seem unlikely, some episodes suggest that the current limits of the Omnitrix can be surpassed if the one using it knows how. In the episode "Secrets", a visual metaphor was used to show Vilgax's plan to mass-produce the Omnitrix and conquer the universe. The scene showed an army of Omnitrix aliens attacking an ice fortress. One switched from Fourarms to Heatblast without reverting to its normal form. Ben experienced a similar effect when the Omnitrix became overcharged and began switching between aliens at random. Its time limit also seems to be surpassable, as Ben has been in one or several forms for much longer than the Omnitrix allows. It's also been shown that the Omnitrix can be deactivated manually, though Vilgax is the only one who knows how. He accomplishes this by pressing the white part of the Omnitrix symbol with a glowing red finger. All this would make the Omnitrix much more versatile than it seems to be when Ben is using it.

Diamondhead

Diamondhead

Description

Diamondhead comes from the species Ditorian, of the planet Ditros. Diamondhead is an alien, whose body is made of an organic crystal, making him invulnerable to most physical attacks. He can grow crystal on any part of his body to make simple tools that are extremely sharp, allowing him to cut and slash his way through almost anything. His ability to grow crystal also means he can regenerate any part of his body. He can also fire crystal shards as projectile weapons. His crystalline body-structure allows him to reflect light- and beam-based weapons. Like any crystal, sonic weaponry will shatter his body.

Advantages

  • Near Invulnerability – Crystalline Body
  • Can morph his body-parts into many different shapes and sizes
  • Can refract both light- and beam-based weaponry.
  • Can fire crystal shards as razor-sharp projectile weapons.
  • Can grow crystal over other objects both by touch and from a distance
  • Can regrow lost limbs.
  • Enhanced Strength – 1000 lbs

Disadvantages

Sonic-based attacks will shatter Diamondhead's crystalline body. His body can also shatter if hit against tough objects, though he can regrow body parts.

Sickness Affects

Official Descriptions~

• Diamondhead is made out of a material that is harder than diamond crystals and is nearly indestructable. When    Ben is Diamondhead, he can refract light and beam based weaponry and can slice anything he wants to bits. His sharp edges make it difficult for Diamondhead to rescue friends. He is also vulnerable to sound based attacks. (Press Kit)

Fourarms

Fourarms

Description

A member of an alien race known as Tetramands, Fourarms is built for close combat. Standing twelve feet tall, this formidable, four-armed alien can use his tremendous strength to dish out punishment, while his armored body protects him from taking it. However, all the added muscle-mass and his large size makes Fourarms slow on his feet.

Advantages

  • Tremendous Strength – 500 tons
  • Armored Body – Heightened Endurance
  • Can leap great distances.
  • Can create sonic waves by clapping all four hands at once.
  • Create minor earthquakes by hitting the ground
  • Cause cracks and fissures in the ground by hitting the ground

Disadvantages

While not clumsy, Fourarms has limited agility due to his large size and excess muscle-mass.

Sickness Affects

Under the affects of the common cold he becomes pale and grow puss-filled hives under his arms

Official Descriptions~

• Fourarms is 10 feet tall with powerful arms and dense armor-plated skin. He can create a sonic wave by clapping all four hands together at once. As Fourarms Ben can leap over several houses in a single bound. However Fourarms isn't fast and his huge size makes him clumsy. (Press Kit)

• A four-armed massive species, the average Tetramand is 10 feet tall. Because of their size they aren't fast or coordinated, making them easy targets. With their strong, legs they can leap blocks at a time at a height of several stories. (Alien Collection)

Ghostfreak

Ghostfreak

Description

Ghostfreak's species is known as the Ectonurite (of the planet Anur Phaetos). Ghostfreak is a shadowy, phantom-like alien, composed of protoplasm that can change its density. This allows Ghostfreak to phase through matter and turn completely invisible at will. He only has one eye, but can position it almost anywhere on his body by moving it along a track traced on his skin. His ghastly appearance is also good for putting fear into the hearts of criminals everywhere. In fact, even Ben gets a little creeped out when he changes into Ghostfreak. Ghostfreak has the unique ability to peel back his own skin, revealing a horrifying mass of innards. Direct light and certain chemicals will nullify Ghostfreak's invisibility and intangibility.

Advantages

  • Can become intangible (move through solid matter) at will.
  • Can become invisible (unable to be seen by the naked eye) at will.
  • Unagile Flight
  • Can move his eye along a track traced on his skin.
  • Can peel his skin off to reveal a mass of black and gray tentacles beneath, as well as something else that is presumably far more disturbing.
  • Telekinesis and Telepathy
  • Phase into and possess animals and sentient beings

Disadvantages

Direct light, as well as certain chemicals, will render Ghostfreak's invisibility and intangibility useless. He is also not as strong as some of the other alien forms.

Grey Matter

Grey Matter

Description

At a mere five centimeters tall, Grey Matter is a part of the alien race known as Galvan (of the planet Galvan Prime), which are bred to enter complex machines and repair them from inside. Consequently, he's able to squeeze through incredibly tiny spaces. They were also bred to be highly intelligent, so Ben gets a boost of intelligence when using this form. He also knows things that he normally doesn't, such as the names of various alien technologies, and even alien physiology. This is either through an advanced form of intuition or genetic knowledge. Unfortunately, he is vulnerable to attack in this form since it isn't meant for fighting. He can, however, use this form's knowledge of all things alien to exploit an opponent's weaknesses.

Advantages

  • Super Intelligence
  • Can respond quickly to his environment
  • Can squeeze through incredibly tiny spaces by compressing body to near flat
  • Has slimy skin that sticks to walls, allowing him to climb most anything
  • Can jump several times his height
  • Has sharp teeth
  • Can learn things that he didn’t just by taking a glance at the information

Disadvantages

Grey Matter's size makes him weak and easily trampled. Unlike the other forms, he’s not meant to be used for combat.

Sickness Affects

Heatblast

Heatblast

Description

Heatblast comes from an alien race known as Pyros that lives on a star called Pyronite, rather than a planet. He can project bolts of fire from his hands, eyes, and mouth and create balls of fire that he can throw or roll. He can also absorb both flames and heat, meaning he can put out a fire as fast as he starts one. Heatblast can apparently take a surprising amount of punishment, as he survived getting knocked through a few several-story buildings without any serious injuries. Heatblast can be put out like any fire, but it takes a substantial amount of effort to do so. Heatblast, unlike all the other cold-affected alien forms, actually gains powers when affected by Earth-based viruses. In his case, his powers reverse, allowing him to control cold instead of heat.

Advantages

  • Can project bolts of fire from his hands.
  • Can project a concentrated stream of flame from his mouth.
  • Can rocket himself through the air by blasting flame from his feet, and do the same to cushion his landing.
  • Can create fireballs to throw or roll.
  • Can absorb heat and fire
  • Can ride on a column of flame like a surfboard.
  • Can create a smokescreen for a quick escape.
  • Can travel short distances in a vortex of fire.
  • Control Fire
  • Magma Skin – Heightened Endurance
  • Enhanced Strength – 500 lbs
  • Immune to Radiation

Disadvantages

Any items that extinguish typical fires, such as water, can kill Heatblast if used in excess. Otherwise, he'll just reignite after a short wait.

Sickness Affects

Has cold-based powers while suffering from the rhinovirus, commonly known as the common cold. He has all of the same powers and abilities only instead of fire it is ice.

Ripjaws

Ripjaws

Description

Ripjaws' species is from the species Aratarann, of the planet Ara Taris. The aquatic alien Ripjaws is an extraordinary swimmer and, like many aquatic creatures, he can breathe underwater. He has a very large tail with fins that allows him to swim at incredible speeds with great agility. The tail can separate on land, revealing a pair of legs within. He has sharp claws and powerful jaws that can unhinge to deliver a devastating bite. He resembles to a bipedal anglerfish. Ripjaws can only remain on land for a short time before needing to get back in the water, since he'll dehydrate like any fish if given enough time. This form is the least used of any form due to its specialized nature.

Advantages

  • Can breathe underwater.
  • Can change legs into a tail with fins and back against
  • Fast and Agile Swimmer – 361 mph fastest
  • Has sharp claws and powerful jaws
  • Has a luminescent dangler, allowing him to see in dark places.
  • Can blast a high pressure burst of water from his mouth
  • Enhanced Strength Underwater – 1 ton
  • See clearly in water

  • Can create a high-pitched sonic attack when moving wings fast enough

Disadvantages

He is weak against poisonous gases and water. The latter of the two can render him incapable of flying if too much gets on his wings.

Sickness Affects

Upgrade

Upgrade

Description

A living machine with a liquid, metallic body and a system of organic circuits, Upgrade is a biomechanical alien that can merge with any mechanical device. Its species name is not yet known. While merged with a device, he can "upgrade" it, making it far more advanced than any equivalent Earth technology. He can also fire a powerful positronic beam from his single eye, regardless of whether or not he's merged with another device. The downside is that he is vulnerable to electricity and electromagnetic fields, as well as acids and corrosives. Upgrade is the only form where Ben's voice does not change, although it does sound more hollow and distant than normal.

Advantages

  • Can merge with and control technology.
  • Can upgrade technology, giving it capabilities far beyond its original design.
  • Can fire positronic energy blasts from his single eye.
  • Can create hard-light constructs (spikes, for example) out of positronic energy.
  • Can stretch his body to float and glide
  • Can blast positronic energy from his eye when merged with technology
  • Enhanced Strength - 500 lbs
  • Liquid body can act as liquid (something hits his body goes through it with a splash)
  • Can solidify parts of his body into protective plates
  • Can mold to surfaces

Disadvantages

Acids and metal-corrosives can dissolve Upgrade. Since he's made of metal, electrical attacks are far more effective. Electromagnetic pulses can also render him useless. Also, sentient or extremely powerful robots are more difficult for him to control, since the amount of willpower required doing so increases significantly, although he is able to do so.

Wildmutt

Wildmutt

Description

A close relative of an alien species known as Vulpimancers (literally "fox wizards") from the planet Vulpin, Wildmutt is less humanoid than most of the Omnitrix's forms. More akin to a canine, Wildmutt is an alien with superhuman athletic ability and heightened senses of smell, hearing, and taste. The downside is that this form has no eyes. His lack of vision is supplemented by his other senses, which works almost as well as actual vision (appears as red figures against a green backdrop). Wildmutt cannot communicate verbally (at least in human languages), but can growl, grunt, and make other similar noises. The razor-sharp quills on his back act as projectile weapons, and he can fire them with amazing accuracy.

Advantages

  • Has superhuman athletic ability.
  • Has heightened senses of smell, hearing, and taste.
  • Can fire razor-sharp quills from his back
  • Has radar-like "sight" thanks to his enhanced hearing and smell.
  • Can sense humans and objects over a mile away.
  • Enhanced Strength - 500 lbs

Disadvantages

Since Wildmutt sees through smelling and hearing, he is vulnerable to loud noises or strong smells. He is also useless when his nostrils are clogged. Wildmutt's lack of verbal communication can also be a problem when trying to convey messages.

Sickness Affects

Nostrils get clogged and he is unable to sense anything

XLR8

XLR8

Description

XLR8 (read as accelerate), of the species and planet known as Cridum, is a lizard-like alien with lightning-quick reflexes and the ability to reach speeds in excess of 300 mph. His speed power comes from manipulating friction, which allows him to run over almost any surface, including non-solid and slanted ones. XLR8 is weaker than most of the other alien forms, but makes up for it with his speed. XLR8 has trouble in the presence of strong magnetic fields, as they disrupt his nervous system.

Advantages

  • Lightning-quick reflexes
  • 500 mph speed
  • Friction Manipulation
  • Run on Semi- and Non-solid surfaces, as well as up slanted and horizontal ones
  • Can roll at high speeds by using the balls under his feet.
  • Is a very-quick fighter thanks to the previous benefits
  • Can create localized tornados by running around in a circle.
  • Tail is a very strong blunt weapon
  • Razor-sharp scissor-like claws on hand can cut through things
  • Polarized Face Shield made of glass that blocks things
  • Can incase himself in a solid shockwave when moving fast enough
  • Can blast things with a shockwave when he hits it with his body when moving fast enough

Disadvantages

Magnetic-based attacks cause XLR8's nervous system to go haywire. He's also not quite as strong as the other alien forms, though his speed tends to make up for it.

Sickness Affects

Cannonbolt

Cannonbolt

Description

Cannonbolt is from a species of alien called an "Arburian Pelarota," though they are now mostly (if not completely) extinct as the Great One destroyed their planet. He is a hulking; broad-shouldered alien covered in bony armor plating and can roll into a ball like an armadillo. He can then roll into enemies as an attack.

Advantages

  • Has a hard shell that’s impervious to attack, and can also deflect energy attacks
  • Can cover himself in his shell and roll to attack at great speeds
  • Has enough room within the shell to carry people
  • Can bounce of walls without losing momentum
  • Can open yellow pads and contain things in them
  • Enhanced Strength - 500 lbs

Disadvantages

Cannonbolt cannot balance very well without going into ball form due to his bulk, high center of gravity, and short limbs.

Wildvine is plant-based alien with six legs, three-fingered claws, and a venus flytrap around his head. He can grow any part of his body extremely swiftly, allowing him to stretch his limbs or grow spikes at will. He also has several, regrowable, pods on his back that act as powerful explosives, which before being separated from the body can be changed to acidic liquid dispensers, or poison gas releasers.

Advantages

  • Can grow any part of his body at will, allowing him to stretch his limbs or grow spikes.
  • Has sharp claws
  • Carries explosive seedpods on his back.
  • Carries acidic and poisonous seedpods on his back
  • Communicate with plants telepathically
  • Can make his legs grow into the ground like roots and merge with plants roots to control them
  • Can regrow limbs if they are cut off
  • Enhanced Strength – 500 lbs
  • Can transform whole limbs into sharp weapons (axes, swords, spikes, etc)
  • Can grow to enormous proportions
  • Can leap great distances
  • Can heal and regenerate any plant and fungus
  • Can grow thorns on the ground around him to cut up
  • Can cling to surfaces with his sharp claws

Disadvantages

Since he is a plant, Wildvine is presumably weak against temperature extremes (fire, freezing), herbicides, and various anti-fungal agents.
