LILITH

prva prestupnica

''In myth, Lilith was said to be Adam's first wife before Eve. She is not mentioned in the Christian texts, but found in other ancient writings. The story about Lilith is that she refused to mate with Adam as a submissive female. Adam tried to make Lilith lie beneath him during sexual intercourse. Lilith would not meet this demand of male dominance. She wanted to be "on top". She demanded equality with Adam, failing to achieve it, she left him in anger, to find another mate…''

According to midrashic literature, Adam's first wife was not Eve but a woman named Lilith, who was created in the first Genesis account. Only when Lilith rebelled and abandoned Adam did God create Eve, in the second account, as a replacement.

Lilith also personified licentiousness and lust. She copulate with men in their sleep, causing them to have nocturnal emissions or "wet dreams''.

Lilith is represented as a powerfully sexual woman. Much more so than Eve, Lilith is the personification female sexuality.Lilith highlights how women  use their sexuality to seduce men.

She represents the deeper, darker fear men have of women and female sexuality.
