“Meet Me For A Drink"
by Outta Gas

(2017)

The super catchy, harmony laden sophomore LP from Outta Gas tells the story of another real bad winter in NYC. Funny, clear eyed and deeply personal songs that grapple with the knowledge that life and love in their all-consuming home city are generally on some bullshit. An alternate reality where '..And Out Come The Wolves' is set in BK instead of Oakland and Tim is tortured by a nonstop influx of cellular data, 'Meet Me For A Drink' is cynical as hell and densely packed with the most memorable hooks since Weezer blue.

This heartfelt, passionate 45 sums up the worst of the Brooklyn winter, processing the grind and anxiety of life in America's most wound-up city. If the human condition is to experience media content and billboards instead of people or life, then these punk tunes about the natural destructive force of NYC are just the folk songs of our cyber-punk, data-phone universe.

“Songs March-June"
by Mike Naideau

(2008)

Thinking about sound, not just music, this collection of recordings from 2008 ranges from gentle astral landscapes to insanely wild biological guitar solos. The pulsing, calm frenzy can feel as appropriate walking through a busy subway station as it does in a forest, with occasional lyrics intended to evoke a feeling rather than to convey an idea. 'Songs March-June' shares a rare approach to writing music that is the opposite of controlling, allowing sounds to happen and then working with them in the context from which they emerge. At peaks of intensity it builds toward a beautiful, peaceful chaos that feels like a beehive or an anthill, a sound with no notes that feel like music. A sampled voice on the 27th track remarks: "Remember the purpose of your planetarium projector is to help you zero in on the stars of the real night sky, where all the action is taking place.."

“Blood Soda Live"

(2006)

A distorted bootleg that captures the wild intensity and gentle beauty of this huge sounding two-piece in a way that couldnt have been achieved in a studio. The guitar lurches violently between opposite extremes: howling like an unhinged beast on one beat, calmly articulating a melody the next. Some of these songs would later be reinterpreted in Giant Peach.
