In this section, I will try and list the most easily accessible outdoor haunted places in the Brisbane area. Unlike most other spirits and phantoms, there has been the occasional report of ghosts that enjoy haunting open areas. These areas include a variety of parks, tunnels and roads. Abandoned Homes:  Often within my travels I go through areas in Brisbane and find many old places, some in need of desperate renovation, some just too old to do anything with, and you will find that they are abandoned. I have a lovely collection of photos that I have taken over the years, many from abandoned homes like the below picture shows. I cannot say that this abnormality in this photo is of a spirit or the energy left behind by the last owners. This type of photo is very common on buildings that have been abandoned or in this case, partially burnt!

Victoria Park: The story of the Victoria Park ghost is probably the most famous "haunting" in Brisbane's history. The site of this tale has recently been destroyed by the new Inner-City Bypass; however the tale will live on in the minds of those who were lucky enough to play a part in the week-long saga. As the story goes, a ghost was spotted by some children one night in a tunnel beneath the rail line below the modern day swimming complex off Gregory Terrace in Brisbane. The following night, a group of children crept down in the hope of spotting this spook. One little boy who lagged behind was unlucky enough to be "mesmerized" by the specter, and was dragged up to the Royal Brisbane Hospital by his friends, who feared he had been possessed. The ensuing tale made newspaper headlines the next day and within a short period of time, thousands of people were lining both sides of the tunnel in the hope of catching a glimpse of the ghost. Needless to say, the ghost never appeared and the whole incident was put down to childish imagination, although the children swear they did see something that night which, interestingly enough, was also seen on other occasions many years before and since - you decide!

Spook Hill: There seems to be a few hills with a mysterious nature around Brisbane, however this one holds the record for being the best known of its kind. There are a few different sites in the vicinity believed to be the 'real' Spook Hill...one was even graded flat in order to try and stop bring an end to this mystery.This site holds the same qualities as the famed hill in Toowong cemetery along 12th Avenue. Admittedly, there are no reports of ghostly sightings along this road, however there does appear to be some paranormal force at work. Legend has it that if a car is parked facing up hill, it will begin to roll upwards if the handbrake is taken off while the car is in neutral. This hill has been visited for years by curiosity seekers, who have discovered that the myth is actually fact! Some say that this mysterious force is no more than a huge magnetic lodestone that exists below the ground in the area, magnetically pulling cars up the hill; however no scientific evidence has ever been put forward to back this theory

Archerfield Airport: The ghost who resides here has been seen by many residents of the area. There have been a few sightings within the airport grounds themselves; however the majority of sightings take place along the road outside the airport. During the war, Archerfield was used heavily by the air force, and a number of air force planes were stationed here. Rumor has it that one large plane went down on the site, resulting in the death of the pilot and crew. Ever since, a lone pilot, dressed in full flight equipment (parachute, jacket, goggles and cap), has been seen walking through the site and most commonly along Beatty Road as you pass by the airport. Some even say that as they pass by, this spectral pilot will acknowledge them with a wave and a smile. Some who have seen the pilot have even been asked to look through yearbook photos from the era in an attempt to identify the mysterious figure - pointing out the exact pilot that was killed in the crash!

  Near the propeller you will notice a white smear, could this be the Archerfield Ghost? Perhaps.

Family Ghosts

Todd and Tyes Visitor.

Todd and Tye, my two kids were photographed unknown this day.

 They were only aware after I had taken the photo. This photo was taken because my two sons were playing a PS2 game together and this type of activity is not a common thing for my kids so I had to get the moment on camera. Little did I know that the reason they may have been quiet doing something they do not normally do was because they had a little spiritual guidance that did, a comforting one, helping Tye. As children are, Todd and Tye are two very excitable boys who find it difficult to sit and be quiet. So this moment was a rare.  I found it most interesting when I had my film developed to find that they had a visitor who seemed to be caring for Tye, comforting almost helping him to concentrate on a task he just doesn’t do and also cannot do.  Tye cannot play computer games. Tye is Autistic and has much difficulty in learning controls for playing video games, but this day it was as if someone was just with him and playing through him.

Garden Spirits

One of my herb gardens is in my front yard; I basically ripped up my lawn and decided to grow herbs instead of worrying about a lawn to mow. This by now was the third herb garden I have created, my first was my enclosed courtyard which over the years has had major changes, but not too much as to deter my many visitors to my garden. The second is the garden near the fence in the front yard, this was once lawn and I decided that there was no use for it there also as the grass never grew well anyway and we had a large patch of weeds not grass. Over the years of having and creating my gardens I have had a few visitors. I often wonder if it was my mum who passed away many years ago as she was a great gardener. I never had a green thumb, but it seems I do now, one of the last things I would ever inherit!  I have a few photos from my gardens; one of the first was a fairy like glow, taken from the enclosed herb garden. From this garden, I have also had a  ‘fuzzie’ type spirit turn up upon and near my mugwort, which of course is still there. Before I ripped up the lawn in the front, I had a checker board pattern with tiles and pots on them, I also got a fuzzie here near a comfrey. There have been a couple of others but nothing too great until about a few months ago when I was taking photographs of a sunflower as once they have grown and bloomed, they die off leaving you with a nice handful of sunflower seeds. The main reason for the photo taking this day was because I had a deformed sunflower as it had two heads joined together, like a Siamese twin sunflower. I got a very beautiful and large fuzzie here, too noticeable to be anything else and I guess this has to be my best from the front yard yet.

Backyard Spirit

My backyard spirits are interesting in that they are not quite in my backyard but close enough and do turn up on many occasions while taking photos at night. Twice I have got large white orbs appear on the neighbors house in the back, I wonder if the old lady who lives there had a husband who passed on some years back? Or maybe this could be a past resident who died in the house? This I do not know but whoever it is, certainly is there. I will post up these photos in the photos sect.  Along with them other orbs turn up around my back yard and above the fence which shows they could be in another yard at the back. I do not know where these come from. A person once told me that my backyard is like a stoppoint for spirits who pass through?? Who knows I guess, But I do know they are there.

Upon another night while taking photos I took one of what looks to be a fairy? This time with wings and the shape being like a fairy. I checked the lawn for reflections after the photos were developed and found nothing. So there was no logical explanation as far as I could work out. I can walk into my back yard on any night take some photos and get some orbs basically whenever I want, I think I have only had one night when all I got was a few very light orbs.
