Barca line up
Ramallets, Olivella, Garay, Garcia, Verges, Segarra, Kubala, Evaristo, Kocis, Suarez, Villaverde
Scorers- Verges (34) Evaristo (82)
On paper the clash looked tricky, to say the least. Barcelona were reigning Spainsh Champions and were now looking for a European Cup to go with their Fairs Cup of 1958 and 1960. The pervious season the Catalans had steamrollered Wovles (9-2 on agg) and AC Milan (7-1) only to crumble against Real in the Semi Final (3-1 both legs). Kubala and Suarez were world class players by any standards. Luis Suarez two goals at the Burnacow in a match that finished 2-2 in the first leg had givein Barca hope of the next round. Verges was to open the scoreing witha deflected shot on the half hour mark. Real give it all they could to come back but near the end of the match Barca's Brazillion ace score with eight minuits to spare. Real had been eleminated from the cup for the first time. The headlins from the Fancoist capital read ''Barcelona have eliminated Spain from the European Cup'' a lovely result for the nation of Catalunya.

The apotheosis of Barcelona's 1973/74 tittel-winning campaign was unquestionably their epic victory at Real Madrid's Bernabeu. Real had scpaped a goaless draw the previous game at the Camp Nou in October, but revitalised by 1$ million recruit Johan Cruyff, the Catalans arrived in Madrid on a 17 match unbeaten run and 9 points ahead of Real. Johan Cruyff was to be nicknamed the ''Flying Dutchman'' after his goal in Madrid. Barca's middfiled Asensi opened the scoreing to silence the Madrid crowed on the half hour mark. Eight minuits Cruyff ran past three defenders to make it two goal's to nil for the BlauGrana. By the time Barca striker Sotil finished off the scoreing with 20 minuits still left to play, a live TV audience could even percevie scattered applause from the 80,00 thousand crowed. After the match Madrid coach was so imprested by the Catalans proformance he said on live televison, ''I haven't seen a team this good for years''. 60% of Barcelona see the clubs vitory a victory over Francoisum.
