Birding Trip, March 9th - 13th 2007 - Best viewed as a full screen

In early March 2007 my son and I took a five day, long weekend birding break to the Aragon Region of NE Spain. We flew Ryanair (1 hr. 50 min.) from London Stansted to Zaragoza; the nearest airport, only 35 miles, to the Spanish Steppes around Belchite and home to the often elusive Dupont’s Lark.

Our accommodation for this trip, which consisted of bed, breakfast, picnic lunch and evening dinner, was arranged through Josele Saiz of the Boletas Birdwatching Centre, www.birdingspain.com

We spent our first night at the Euro Catering Restaurant and Hotel Rioja (200 metres apart - eat in one, sleep in the other) at Quinto, close to the steppes, then three nights at Boletas Birdwatching Centre at Loporzano in the foothills of the Pyrenees.
