Levels Birder at the Western Cape

A birding-trip to South Africa's Western Cape

This is a brief report, with a few bird-photos, of a birding-trip that my wife and I made to South Africa’s Western Cape in late August 2008. I chose the last week of winter as a good time for a pelagic-trip!

Throughout this trip we stayed at a variety of comfortable small hotels and large guest houses.

As usual for us we booked our trip through Naturetrek, their website is http://www.naturetrek.co.uk

We can recommend this trip as good way to see some of the Cape’s endemic birds.

Unfortunately, the poor weather, mostly overcast with a cold wind and rain during part of the day on all but two days, made bird photography very difficult, especially as we were birding in a group.
