Welcome to the Leota Junior High School Sparrow Club! Leah Laitala is our web manager, and she and Maddy Young will be updating this site more as time goes on. This year's supervisor is Mr. Patrick McClure. Our first Sparrow Club was during the 2004-2005 school year, and we all had a great time helping our Sparrow, Lauren. Last year, our adopted Sparrow was a seven-year-old boy named Ethan. This year, we've starting up again, and meetings are every Thursday morning, starting at 7:20 am in Mr. McClure's room, room 702.
STAY TUNED!! As the new year starts, we will be hard at work with Sparrow Club at Leota again. Our new Sparrow is Matthew Butz, son of two Northshore teachers. Keep checking back for ways that you can help Matthew out! Also, make sure to talk to Mr. Sander, Mr. McClure, or Maddy if you have any questions whatsoever. You can email either of them by clicking on the links on the Navigation Bar.
Now, you don't need to fill out any forms to join Sparrow Club, or need to attend all the meetings. In order to help out, you must fill out a small piece of paper saying how many hours of community service you've completed, the date, a supervisor's signature, and why you want to help our Sparrow. Then you turn it in to Mr. McClure, and each comleted hour is $10 that goes towards helping our Sparrow. This money can be used for treatment, which is vital for some families.
