Congratulations go to HD Ackerman who has been crowned the 2005 Leicestershire Foxes Supporters Site 'Player of the Year'. In his first season with the club, skipper HD was the County's most consistent performer in all competitions and picked a massive 11 Man of the Match awards. As well as being one of only two Leicestershire players (along with Darren Robinson) to surpass 1,000 first class runs, HD was the top scorer for the club in the 20/20 and hit over 500 runs in the Totesport National League.
Picking up the 'Young Player of the Year' award for 2005 is Stuart Broad. The 19 year old had a brilliant debut season for the Foxes culminating in his selection for England U-19's and ultimately being named in the ECB National Academy Squad. Stuart took 30 first class wickets in just 10 matches and it is easy to see why so many people hold him in such high regard.
The 'Best Individual Player Performance' for 2005 goes to Chris Rogers for his amazing 209 in the tour match versus his home country, Australia. Rogers only spent a few weeks with the club in July when standing in for Dinesh Mongia but made a massive impression not least for making his career best double hundred against the Aussies. Unfortunately Chris will not be returning to the club for 2006 as he has been snapped up by local rivals Northamptonshire.
Special mentions go to Darren Robinson, who again enjoyed a fantastic first class season by scoring four centuries and passing 1,000 runs for the second season running. David Masters, ended the season on fire and was named as the County's official 'Player of the Year' and Paul Nixon proved his doubters wrong with some excellent gritty knocks in the Championship and also shone in the 20/20.
