Arrived with Dean [ my old man ] Tracy, Ferdy, Laura & Jess around 9pm Friday night already 50 + tents erected. The venue was set in an old war camp surrounded by acres of fields. A number of chalets 3 burger vans and a decent sized hall., with a reasonable priced bar. The 1st band of the weekend were the Splitters, playing to 150+ which for a Friday was good. A northern room was set up in one of the chalets with a good crowd in there, and another 50 odd relaxing outside. we left them all to it about 12.30 as we was spending Friday night at home in a nice warm bed. Arrived back about 8am Saturday to fields full of tents. After pitching our own tent next to Mags. Myself and Dunny attached the inner city flag to the pole in the camp, but after half an hour we had to take it down due to the wind trying to tear it in half. I had been saving Doc's and shirts to have a stall for the past year and decided to stand. Setting up in the hall about 10am along with 14 other stalls and some more had chosen to stand outside in the blazing heat. Burton Brewers set up there bungee run, the duel , the bull and a bouncy castle was set up to help entertain the kids. a 3 piece band [ sorry I did not get the name ] played acoustic guitars to the hundreds of people sunbathing and drinking outside. The custom show was well attended with around 20 + scoots and Ferdy won a trophy for best oddity [ his scoot not him ] I spent till four on the stall with many satisfied customers. back at the ten the rest of the club were relaxing, getting pissed what a surprise! we lazed around chatting till about 7, then a quick change and set off for the evening entertainment, Around 40 people already dancing in the Northern room, entering the main hall there wasn't a seat available it was packed the disco was already in full swing with many dancing. Sunflower was on 1st with a set of Weller, Jam ect followed by Spiderman who play instrumental tracks, The highlight of the night for us goes to Clare, Andy Daniel and Megan for turning up. It's great to see them carrying on at such an awful time. Too many beers later & falling asleep and watching Ferdy spending more time on the floor than standing, I retired home to my tent. outside a bonfire had been lit and around 70 people sat around talking. Went to bed after making sure we'd woke I-Spy up first about 2. Waking to here Tracey & Ferdy arriving home at 5.30 am and the music was still going in the northern room. Woke around 7, drunk some black coffee and then it was time to leave. A great weekend set in the perfect venue. Thanks to Ferdy for tripping over Tayla's pram & breaking it, along with the biggest rip in his Jeans to prove it. Phillipa A5 who fell asleep on the tables, to many Archers, I-Spy for staying in his own tent and not sleepwalking to mine. and to Mick for leaving the yank boring me to tears.
