Isle of Wight 2000     photos

Famous last words for today are ''it never rains on the Isle of Wight!'' so they'd have you think We rode down on Friday in t-shirts because it was hot, you know the sort of journey that you cruise at, cause its really nice and there's no hurry, that's the one. We got to Southampton via a bridge just for Ferdy cause he says he's going motorway to Bridlington [he really hates bridges]. Just missed the ferry, so had a beer waiting for the next one. Got on it, sun's still shining, within 10 minutes its pissing down, and I don't think it really gave up till Saturday afternoon. But we're hard and walked across to the pub anyway. Mark Dunn had got a plaster on his face so we all sat laughing at him [makes a change - not] and met up with all the familiar faces, got rather merry and sang all the way home. Saturday as I said was wet' so wet in fact that we had an indoor pool, an outdoor pool and a shower, in fact if it hadn't been for the tent pegs I think we would have been white water rafting. But eventually it dried out so we ventured into town. There were no where near as many scooters on the front as normal, obviously a reflection of the weather, there wasn't much happening at all so after a few pints at the Squadron, we decided to go back to the campsite and all dress up like Mark. We'd decided to go to the VMF do and were drinking our way around there but it had set on fire and was closed. So what to do but drink our way back around town again 'till' it opened. It was an excellent do, The Itch played a good set and then Skaboom [who have a new line up]. Our Ferdy didn't fall over so we went back to the camp site. Sunday morning we were all looking forward to the ride out, to a mystery venue, to see a mystery band. It turned out that the only mystery was why we bothered. The mystery place was Ventnor and the mystery band were THE WIGHT LEGIONNAIRES MARCHING BAND- really good. There were a lot of rumors about where and who, but to be honest if there's not a definite announcement next year, then we as a club have agreed that we wont bother with the ride out. Sunday night is generally the best night of the weekend and this was no exception. We all ended up in the 3 Buttoned Heroes do, and it was excellent. The music was good and the beer was cheap. Me and Ferdy were pole dancing, Jessie was getting loads of compliments for dressing like a skinhead even Simo was dancing [I think that was what it was or it could have been the fact that he could not find a toilet], a brilliant night all around. But then it was time to go home, I just hope next tear comes around quick,---- I love I.O.W.
