Brewers Droop 2004 - 6th / 8th August  Photos

The Audiograph - We’ve seen it, We’ve heard it - It’s the future!!

Burton Brewers SC always play an absolute blinder with their annual ‘Brewers Droop Scooter Rally’ and this year was no exception!! - Helped in no small part by the gloriously hot sunny weather ( and OMG was it HOT! ).

The days leading up to the weekends festivities had been fraught with stress and worry trying to ensure that our trusty steed ( otherwise known as ‘The Happy Bus’ ) was fit for the arduous 30 mile journey to Burton on Trent - As the previous weekend the radiator had decided it wanted to be more like Angelica and get itself pierced! - The result being a major cash transfusion, lots of ‘Toilet Words’ ( © SHUT UP ), and some very chewed fingernails!!! But In best ii tradition we were not going to be beaten. And so it came to pass that Myself and Angelica, with ‘The Little ii’s’ and ‘MOTHER’ in tow were soon spluttering our way along the A38, followed by Psychoroe who had done the decent thing and turned up to a scooter rally on an actual real life scooter!

As this years official ‘ii Jollydays‘ is to be the weekend after Brewers Droop at Tattershall Park, many of the ii had opted to save themselves for that one. So with the prospect of a rally without such luminaries as DMs, T.aka.Eileen, OAJJ, Taxi, BigN, Jimmy Jazz etc etc we finally arrived on site, and after successfully handling our huge erection ( ooer missus! ) it was time to  sit down with a beer or two as we awaited the arrival of the other residents of the scaled down ii village. They soon began to appear in the shape of DAvey ( on his mod scooter ), Mr & Mrs Cadd, & Dawesy.

After a couple of hours Angelica received a text asking us to keep a space available for another tent, as DMs had decided that he definitely needed to get out more, and would be with us shortly ( \o/ \o/ \o/ Hurrah! ). However, once on site Mick’s tent refused to magically ‘self-erect’ as it seems to on most other rallies, so he elected not to bother with it and declared he would be sleeping in his car.

Afternoon drifted into evening so everyone got washed, dressed, and readied themselves for the sweatbox that was the main do - but to be honest, the heat was soooo unbearable in there that out of the 3 bands we had wanted to see on the Friday night ( Ghost Town AKA, The Affair & Basketcase ) we only actually managed to catch Ghost Town AKA who were playing in the smaller and slightly cooler of the 2 rooms. Much boozing and schmoozing later and it was time to head back towards our canvas mansions to grab a couple of hour’s kip – so that’s what we did.

Saturday morning came around far too soon, and in a bleary-eyed state we headed straight to the canteen for a recuperative Full English, where we bumped into Andy H and Garry ( Iccle’s significant other ). After brekkie we hung around the tents for a short while before going for a nose around the stalls on the parts fair in the baking hot sunshine.

Money spent and parts purchased, it was time for a spot more of that favourite rally pastime - sitting around drinking loads of beer – so that’s what we did. Whilst we were hard at work perfecting this art we were press ganged into entering a team into the ‘It’s A Knockout’ tournament that was taking place later in the afternoon. Over the next few hours the ii numbers swelled, as we were joined by yet more peeps. Including Earl, Tara, Dunny, Iccle, Hiippy, Biscuit, & Mr & Mrs Jordan to name but a few ( sorry to anyone we missed ), as well as fellow CSWSSC member Moxey who had decided that the beer would taste much better in the company of fellow scooterists.

Around this point in the afternoon a whole new concept was born, as one of the Gatecrashers SC was asked by a Scootering Mag photographer if he could sit on his scooter for a quick picture. He quickly jumped aboard his pride and joy, started the engine and proceeded to thrash the proverbials off it – perhaps he thought you could hear the sound in the picture?…..Hmmmm now there’s a thought….. Ladies and Gentleman we present you with ‘The Audiograph’ ( © 2004 ii )

Just as Angelica and I were about to go for another wander around the stalls, and pick up much needed provisions from the local shop ( i.e. Beer, Beer & more Beer ) it was announced that the ‘It’s A Knockout’ Tournament was about to take place. So we gathered our team together: Me, DAvey, Psychoroe, and Pete?!? ( One of the ‘Yorkshire Puddings’ that had ridden down with DAvey.) The first round consisted of us all in wellies and hard hats fastened together on long wooden planks. We then had to weave in and out of cones and burst balloons, whilst being drenched with buckets of water thrown by the opposing teams – Round 1 to us!!!. The next round was very similar in that we were getting a constant soaking, but this time it was a relay race undertaken on ‘space-hoppers’. After a bright start we were well ahead, but somehow managed to throw it all away on the last length and we were out of the tournament. Time for more beer….

Whilst drying off in the oppressive heat, and supping luke-warm cans of Stella, we were joined by our second surprise of the weekend – T.aka.Eileen, who had decided that she definitely needed to get out more for some serious RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH and T-shirt liberation – both of which she successfully accomplished! ( More of that later… ). Once the sun has put his hat away for the day, it was time again to ready ourselves for the evening’s entertainment, and as we did so T.aka.Eileen protested about the fact that she didn’t have a CSWSSC top like Psychoroe’s and asked if she could borrow one for the night. Needless to say, the score is now T.aka.Eileen 1 - Psychoroe 0… ( You didn’t really expect to get your T-Shirt back did you Gaz? ).

Inside the evening do, we saw Reet who gave me a present – A miniature MrBean keyring! I am still PMSL at that one – THANKYOU so much xxx. The heat was even more unbearable in both rooms than the previous night, so most of it was spent outside chatting to old friends and making new ones. This meant that yet another band that we had wanted to see (The More Specials ) had been missed TUT! But we did venture inside later on once the bands had finished, and the crowd had thinned out so we were actually able to breathe. T.aka.Eileen bid us farewell, as she was not camping and left us to it. In her absence Angelica managed to trick me into exchanging tops with one of the Brewers Security, and later informed me that I wasn’t keeping my newly acquired T-Shirt, and that she had Liberated it for T.aka.Eileen TUT!

DAvey, Angelica, The Little ii’s, and myself were last ones in the room, and had to be ushered out by some bloke wearing  a new, but rather tight fitting CSWSSC polo shirt – How Rude! - A few beers and lots of talking b*****ks around the tents when we got back, and it was time for us to go to bed once more - But not before Moxey was pulled out of his tent by Paula from Carlton Blues SC, forcibly stripped naked, and made to blow on his horn several times – waking half the campsite in the process! - That’s two rallies on the trot that Angelica has had an eyeful of naked men!!! TUT @ her.

Sunday morning was the usual affair, with erections being tightly packed into small packages….and then the tents were taken down. As we said our farewells, we left Dawn with the rest of the Brewers clearing the mountain of rubbish from the fast emptying field – and what a sterling job they were doing of it! We hit the A38 and pointed the (not so) Happy Bus in a homeward direction back to our Shoe.
