What's Wrong With Buying a Puppy from a Pet Store?
http://www.cchs-petshelter.org/id71.html
Thank you for taking the time to read this, it is not to judge, or soap-box, but purely to inform the public of what you are never intended to see.
Please don't be fooled by clean, cutesy puppy stores or the shiny, happy websites. The truth is 99% of puppy store puppies or puppies for sale on web classifieds are brokered and shipped from USDA registered commercial breeders like these, otherwise known as puppy mills, generally located in the Midwest.
These images document conditions that are appalling, and unfortunately, not at all unusual. Please consider every time a puppy is purchased from a pet store (even if you feel you are "rescuing" it from its tiny cage) you put money in the bad guy's pockets, not to mention you will usually pay more for a pet store puppy, and get a host of health and behavior problems to boot. It is not the puppy's fault, but because of someone's greed.
If there were no small, hobby, reputable breeders, for better or worse, the demand for pure-breed puppies would still be there, and the only place they could find them would be pet stores. Many puppies bought in puppy stores do not turn out the way the buyer thought they would, either because of poorly educated sales staff, bad genetics from the parents, falsified paperwork, or poor socialization, and/or impulsive buyers. Many of these dogs end up in shelters. Hundred of thousands of wonderful pets end up being destroyed every year. Educate yourself as a buyer and support reputable breeders and rescue organizations.

A Wealth of Information from the Humane Society of the United States
Ever womder where "designer dogs" came from?
Infamous Mennonite puppy miller and owner of one of the largest, most disgusting puppy mills in the country Wallace Havens "invented" puggles and cock-a-poos and churned out THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of them while torturing hundreds of thousands more dogs and puppies. Be informed.

Registered Representative of Florida.
Our Dogs are double-registered with the I.O.E.B.A. and the C.K.C., the foremost registering bodies for Olde English Bulldogs.
Olde English Bulldog Breed Standard
General Description : The ideal Olde English Bulldog is a loyal, courageous dog of medium size with a large powerful head and stout muscular body. The temperament is very stable and trustworthy making them a loyal companion, capable protector and the ultimate family member. Old English Bulldogs thrive on pleasing their owners and are very trainable. Head : Large and high, moderately sunken between the eyes (medial furrow). The circumference of the head should be equal to or greater than the dog's height at the shoulder. A narrow head or one that appears too small for the body is a fault. Shoulders : Shoulders should be well laid back with significant angulations to allow for good movement. Straight shoulders are a fault. Rear legs should exhibit significant bend of stifle so to allow for good movement. They should be well muscled. Straight or “posty” rear legs are a serious fault.Cow hocks are a disqualifying fault. Movement : Dogs should have a balanced gait that drives off the rear and is complimented by reach allowing the dog to cover ground with a sense of power. Dogs should single track. Pacing or crabbing is a serious fault. Weight : Between 50 to 70 lbs. for females and 65 to 85 lbs. for males. Although height and weight above the standard is to be discouraged, there is no penalty as long as the dog is well proportioned, otherwise correct and balanced. Tail : A pump handle tail that naturally reaches the hock is preferred, screwed short or a docked tails are acceptable. The pump handle tail should be carried low and not over the back of the dog. Temperament : Disposition should be outgoing and happy. While a watchful nature may be expected at home, human aggression without provocation is a disqualifying fault.
Olde English Bulldogs are athletic and most importantly of very good health. Bulldogges should be able to run and play and be free-breathing. The Olde English Bulldog is devoid of all breathing issues and is capable of enjoying outdoor activity without concern except in extreme heat or cold.
Their lifespan is between 10 and 14 years.
Ears : Rose ears set well on the sides of the head are preferred. Dropped ears are acceptable as long they are small, not “hound like”. Full pricked ears that stand up on top of the head should be considered a serious fault.
Muzzle : Broad, deep and short with moderate wrinkling. Lower canines should not protrude. Muzzle too long (more than 3 inches) and muzzle should be no shorter than 1 ½”. Wry jaw is a disqualifying fault.
Eyes : Wide apart and of moderate size. Any color is acceptable. However, odd eyes (one dark, one blue or light) should be considered unpreferred. Misshapen or bugged eyes are a serious fault. Lacking pigment around the eyes is undesirable. Crossed eyes or non-symmetrically shaped eyes are a disqualifying fault.
Nose : Broad with open nostrils (nares) with no sign of air restriction. The nose should not be pushed up between the eyes. From the stop to the end of the nose must be at least one and one half inches. The nose should be a solid color. Lacking pigment is a serious fault. A nose lacking all pigment is a disqualifying fault.
Neck : Short to medium in length and very muscular flowing into the shoulders and should not be set on the dog so it appears to stop at the shoulders.
Chest : Ribs should be well sprung (rounded) and the chest wide and deep. Depth of chest should be at least to the elbows.
A hollow or narrow chest (slab sided) should be considered a serious fault.
Back : Males should appear square and balanced. Females should appear similar with consideration given for body length. Short with a very slight rise from the shoulders to a slight drop in the croup is preferred. A level back is acceptable as long as the tail does not come straight off the top of the back.
Legs : Forelegs should be straight and wide apart, neither bowing out nor turning in. There should be significant bone substance. Elbows should be relatively close to the body. Lacking bone and substance is very undesirable. Elbows that are loose or “fiddle fronts” are a disqualifying fault. “East / West” forelegs are a serious fault.
Feet : Round, tight both front and rear, and the pasterns should be strong. Weak pasterns and/or splayed feet are disqualifying faults.
Height : Males - 18 to 20 inches at the shoulder. Females - 17 to 19 inches at the shoulder.
Color : Any color, except merle, is acceptable with no preference for one over another. The coat is short. A wavy coat or a long coat is a disqualifying fault. There should be no signs of feathering on the legs or neck area, also a disqualifying fault.
BULLDOG ORIGINS
Below are some historical photos of Bulldogs. You will notice they are hearty, working dogs, and do not at all resemble the Bulldogs of today. Bulldogs as we know them today are riddled with health concerns, and have been over-bred and inbred for such extreme and exaggerated proportions to the point of being virtually crippled, not able to exercise outside, play, or even breath effectively. While "UGA's" are undeniably cute and wonderful dogs, and they arrived at this point through no fault of their own and only through breeders' and the AKC's love of novelty and the extreme; even still one must consider the quality of life of an animal that is a completely man-made breed and the health problems that come with that. This is where the Olde English Bulldog was created, to get back to the healthier, heartier working bulldog. There are many opinions on this topic, but I know I have healthy, hearty, happy dogs, and that is what matters to me.
*These images above depict Bear and Bull-baiting which was commonplace in England from the 16th-19th centuries. While we DO NOT condone animal cruelty or "gaming" of any kind, these were less humane and more brutal times when such "bloodsports" as these were commonplace, and this is the origin of the bulldog, and what it was originally bred for.

Any if these dogs above is easily recognized as a Bulldog, and yet, in just a few short years, we have went from a Champion AKC Bulldog looking like this:
To looking like this:
(By the way, the owner of this dog has really interesting things to say about longer-nosed bulldogs, saying they must have Boxer mix in their bloodline, I guess she is not familiar with her own breed's history pictured just above)
Even the possibly most recognizable Bulldog today the University of Georgia football mascot "UGA" has undergone exaggeration and a decline in general health and longevity. This is the first UGA who had a long life, reigning at the sidelines from 1956-1967.

To the current UGA VII who has to hang out in a doghouse filled with bags of ice and just passed away from congenital heart failure at the young age of 4, and his father UGA VI. You will notice they are much heavier, more wrinkled, more brachiocephalic , with more exaggerated wrinkles.

While I myself am a UGA fan, and my heart goes out to the Seiler Family of Savannah who breed and care for the UGA's for their loss. There are serious concerns about continuing to breed and promote this line of Bulldogs when there are serious medical conditions in the bloodline, and breeding them for color, heavier and bullier at the expense of health, quality of life and longevity.
