Leeds A won the division 2 title this season, finishing 3 points clear at the top of the table. Well played lads, we deserve it!
Welcome to the official Leeds Chess Club Website, we are a small and friendly chess club based near the centre of Leeds. We are currently looking for new members, if you are interested in joining us then everything you need to know can be found within these pages. We now have teams in both the Leeds League and Bradford League so we are now recruiting from the Bradford area as well! In the Leeds League we have an A-Team, a B-Team and 2 3-man rapidplay teams, in the Bradford League I have entered a fairly strong 5-man team called Leeds 174 Insurgents. More info on the Bradford team can be found on the 'Breaking News' page. There's always room for anyone wanting a game, if you are interested, please get in touch! I am hoping to add a C team into the Leeds League next season but unfortunately we're still a couple of players short of reaching this target, you can view my progress here. I must stress that we are desperate for new members! If I can recruit some more members during the summer (who would like to play in the league starting from October 2009), then I should manage to add one more team and expand Leeds Chess Club thus increasing the size of the league in the Leeds Chess Association. If you are reading this and you don't currently belong to a chess club but you would like to, please send me an email.
We are a young and extremely keen club, probably the keenest chess club in Yorkshire! Eager to learn more, eager to be a success and most of all... we want to be the best!
I can offer beginner to intermediate and some advanced players coaching, we also have a huge library of chess books that will offer something to anyone from beginner to grandmaster. If you like, we can play through some books on Wednesdays or... once you've been a member here for a while, I can even lend you some books to work on at home. To people who aren't interested in studying chess, that's not a problem! You are still very welcome to come down and play some chess.
Leeds Chess Club are all about meeting up and having some fun!
