Welcome to the Lechwe Taekwon-Do Site!! Taekwon!!!

What Is Taekwon-Do?

Taekwon-Do is a Korean form of self-defence consisting of a combination of martial arts, TaekKyon, Karate and Chinese boxing . It was founded by General Choi Hong Hi during the Second World War. The General wanted to create a martial art better than Karate. He succeeded in creating the only fully documented martial art in the world. Taekwon-Do. With 3200 techniques Taekwon-Do is a highly effective form of self defence. The Hallmark of Taekwon-Do is its spectacular jumping and flying kicks which in performing practitioners seem to fly. In fact Taekwon-Do literally translated means The way of the flying foot and smashing hand.

F.A.Q's

Q. Does Taekwon-Do have any religious or ethnic connection?

A. No, although Taekwon-Do tries to strengthen its practitioners sense of self, physical and mental well being. It is one of the few martial arts that has no religious or ethnic connection.

Q. If I am attacked on the street how will I remember what I have learned?

A. Taekwon-Do, like all martial arts, requires dedication. Constant practice and repetition of techniques will make it like second nature, like an automatic reaction when someone attacks.

Q. I am against violence. Will I or my child by learning Taekwon-Do become violent?

A. No. On the contrary, Taekwon-do teaches its practitioners self control and discipline. Taekwon-Do's aim is to knock down the attacker with a single blow and then get away, not to pound him to a pulp.

Q. What will I gain from practicing Taekwon-Do

A. Well, a dedicated student will learn and gain : Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self Control (both mental and physical) , Indomitable Spirit , physical  fitness and a superior and highly effective form of self defence.
