FAQ's
How can I join the club? There
are two ways to join. Attend a meeting and pick up the forms there, or
e-mail the Membership Vice President and get the forms from her. We're
glad to help you either way.
How do I find out about activities? We
have a monthly newsletter that is distributed at the meetings (or
mailed to you if you cannot attend the meeting), plus weekly a e-mail
from the President with a description of the activities.
How can I sign up for activities? You
can either sign up at the meetings on sign up sheets, or e-mail the
contact person listed in the newsletter. Signing up for an event does
not require you to attend, but it lets the contact person know you are
coming and also allows them to contact you directly if there is a
change. For those events that a firm count is required, an RSVP date is
listed in the description of the event in the newsletter.
Do I have to attend every function? Absolutely
not! We encourage you to attend as many events or activities as you
like. We know that life sometimes gets hectic, so we try to provide a
well rounded calendar each month for you to pick activities from.
Who runs the Club and the meetings? We
have a volunteer board of 5 moms: President, Administrative Vice
President, Membership Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. All
serve for one year, with elections every June. We also have coordinator
positions for things like parties, Sunshine, playgroups, etc. If you
are interested in helping out with any of these, feel free to contact a
board member for more information.
Can I bring my children? Yes!
Children are welcome at every MOMS Club® activity. For MOMS Night Out,
we ask that you leave the kids at home with Dad or a sitter, but
nursing infants are always welcome.
How do you run a meeting with children present? Our
meetings are casual, but we do offer childcare during the meeting which
is staffed by volunteer moms. Feel free to bring your kids to the
meeting or place them in the childcare room, whichever works best for
you. However, we ask that you step out with your children if they are
being disruptive to the speaker. Also, if you use the childcare room at least once during the year we ask that you also volunteer for childcare duty for one of the meetings.
Where do our dues go? Most
of the dues go to club expenses - copies, postage, office supplies, and
parties. We are also required to send $30 or $2 per member to International MOMS Club annually to cover their costs. Our dues are kept low to
encourage membership. However, anyone who may have difficulty paying the dues should contact the board to discuss other options.
Can I invite non-member friends to MOMS Club meetings? Definitely!
Prospective members may attend two business meetings or one business meeting and one park day. A park day is generally defined as any outing where the entire membership is generally together in the same place. Field trips do NOT count as park days.
Can I bring other people's children to MOMS Club functions? Sure!
If you do bring another person's child, you MUST fill out a liability
and medical release form. Please contact the Membership Vice President
for more information.
How can I take a more active role in the MOMS Club? If
you are interested in taking a more active role, feel free to offer
your assistance to any board member or coordinator. We each bring
unique talents to the club. So offer
your help to whichever board member or coordinator is in charge of
whatever it is that you'd like to help out with. Also, watch for
information in the Spring about club wide elections.
