2008-2009
I have been associated with Lighthouse Christian Academy for over 25 years. I was first associated with LCA as a parent when my daughter, Sandra, attended and then graduated from LCA.. I taught third grade for 18 years and Middle School History for 3 years. I am starting my fifth year as Head of School. Next to the Lord and my family, LCA is the most important area in my life.
February began our enrollment for the 2009-2010 school year. We have several new Preschool options available for 2, 3, or 5 half or whole days as well as information on our kindergarten to sixth grade classes. I would like to have you come visit, tour the school, and discuss with me why Lighthouse Christian Academy may be the right place for both your child's schooling and your family's involvement in his/her education.
We offer a Loving environment, with a Commitment to Christ and the Bible, that will provide an Academically excellent education for your whole child(ren). We meet or exceed NJ core curriculum content standards in all our subjects and offer yearly Otis Lennon School Ability testing beginning in first grade and Stamford Achievement testing beginning in Kindergarten.
I look forward to your visit in the near future.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
March, 2009
Dear LCA Families,
March certainly blew in like a lion with the snowfall !! Then the following week we had a hint of spring coming this month. God certainly provides some interesting and exciting seasonally events for us.
Open enrollment started on Feb.11th, so I hope you are filling out your re-enrollment forms and talking with other parents about LCA. We want to be back to at least one or more classrooms per grade level. In that same area, please see the information listed below about our special parent meeting on March 24th at 7 pm., to discuss the vision for the "new" LCA and its families. Childcare will be available. It is a very important and exciting meeting that I hope all of you will attend.
We have also sent home a new calendar because the May 1st Walk-a-thon was not on it.
Here is information on our Student Appreciation Days from Wednesday to Friday. There will be several special activities going on. I have listed some below, but also check your child’s weekly sheet.
Wed.3/18 - Used Book Exchange during each student’s library period
Silly hat and sock day. Still wear your Chapel Clothes, too.
Thurs.3/19 - Ice cream at lunch PajamaDay(must still wear regular shoes to school)
3rd-6th grade Presidential Jeopardy
Fri. 3/20 - Dress Down Day All School Twister game(morning) All School Tug of
War (2 pm)
Other Dates through March to Easter vacation:
March
20 (Fri.) - progress reports will go home
24 (Tues.) - important parent meeting at 7 pm
27(Fri) - School closed for Accreditation Planning
The accreditation is for Middle States Association. Every 9 years we have to be re-accredited by the association. Beforehand we have a very involved and lengthy report that has to be submitted to the accreditation team. They will be coming this fall to do the visitation portion of the accreditation process. This is why we have added the 1pm early dismissal and days for school to be closed, so we can accomplish what is required.
April
9(Thurs) - end of the 3rd marking period
10(Fri.) - Good Friday, school closed
13(Mon)-17(Fri.) - Easter break
20(Mon) - School reopens
Looking Ahead:
May 1 - Walk-a-thon
May 18 - Second Annual Golf Tournament at Greenbriar Country Club in Waretown. There are brochures
and sponsorship forms in the LCA office. Please pick up some to hand out to local businesses.
Have a wonderful week-end and I look forward to seeing you on the 24th .
In His Service,
Mrs. A. Hazeltine
