All of our cows are individually handled each day and therefore we keep close watch on their health and welfare which in turns we belive makes for a better quality milk from the herd. It is our belief thet a healthy cow is a happy cow.
We feed local on farm raised hay that has not been sprayed with any pesticide or herbicide. The feed we use is a recipe that is specially made for our dairy. It has oats, barley and corn with some alfalfa and molases, with calicum and other minerals that a dairy cow needs for production.
The cows that are in lactation are kept inside the milking barns in the winter, but during summer until winter weather prohibits, they are put out to pasture during the day after the morning milking and then brought in before the evening milking.
