Personal history
The name’s Shawna Mills, born in 1986, a black native American, artist, and storyteller who loves anything Cowboy, beat-nick, and swinger. I grew up in NYC until I was 7 yrs old, when I moved to Baltimore Maryland. After a year, I moved back to NY. Initially wanting to be a vet, my long time hobby for the arts became the only thing that made me happy. I soon became very anti social and isolated because of art. While I had no problems being alone, my social skills began to lack and usually left me in awkward situations. I was known as the weird kid until high school. It was in high school that I developed a more dry, and occasionally, bubbly personality along side of a very jagged art style. I’m the only artist in my family so I was able to learn on my own. In the end, I ended up very independent and when I finally got to go to school for art, I never paid attention to what I was supposed to learn. It wasn’t until my senior year in Art & Design HS that I was able to embrace my independence. That place really allowed me to work freely. It was mostly the talented competition that kept me growing as an artist. When I see talent, I can’t help but aim higher. It’s weird, but being envious actually helped me a lot too. I guess I’m the type who won’t settle on being “almost there”.

Aspiration
My ultimate goal is to become an animator and later, an animation Director. However, over it all, I really want to be able to draw without interruptions and without a concern in the world.

Artistic background
I graduated from Art & Design HS in NYC. And did some poster work for Korby Marks Stormbringers comic. I also did concept work for a halted animated series project, Junglecrooks. I've interned for World Leaders Entertainment, over the production of the Venture Brothers series. i currently work freelance as a comic artist and animator. i'm an animator for a talented hip hop artist and have recently taken on the position of comic artist for the producer of UVC magazine.
