We are Hare enthusiasts, we love the breed, its temprement, its intelligence and the overall look of the rabbit.........we do not run a breeding business.....some of out rabbits have gone to show homes, but mostly have gone to live very comfortable lives as pets.. As long as the hare is happy so are we. We do not pretend to know everything about Belgian Hares, we can only give advice on what we know based on experience with this breed. We are continually learning.
The Belgian Hare is called the greyhound among rabbits, mostly because it is slender, slim, and lightly built. This breed originated in Belgium and England around 1885. It was bred from wild-coloured slaughtering rabbits with a lot of pigmentation. In spite of the name Belgian Hare, a hare has never been used to create this breed. The original colour was warm fox to mahogany.Tan varieties have been known since 1978 and white ones since 1984.
