Laura was born to parents Sonja and Geoffrey on 25th December 1980.

Laura came from a modest family background and up to when she died, she still had a flat in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire - where she had been brought up - and lived just a few miles from her mother, a carer, for the terminally ill.

It was Sonja who was the driving force behind her acting career and who brought up her daughter alone after her marraige broke up in 1994 when Laura was a teenager.

Laura won her first role as a child at the age of six, starring as the little girl in 'Six Characters In Search Of An Author' at the National Theatre. American actor Dustin Hoffman was so impressed by her performance that he asked to meet her after the show.

Laura enrolled first at the Jackie Palmer acting school in High Wycombe, and then, aged 12, at the Sylvia Young Theatre School , whose famous graduates include Spice Girl Emma Bunton, Billie Piper and Denise Van Outen.

It was while she was at the school that Laura was chosen to star in the black comedy 'Intimate Relations' with Julie Walters and later, in 1996, popular children's TV show Grange Hill. She also had a variety of other roles including fantasy programme 'Belfry Witches' alongside The Office star Lucy Davis.

Laura's career continued to flourish when in 2000 she joined the cast of Holby City - her first major role in an adult series - as nurse Sandy Harper which was sadly to be her last role.

Whilst on the Set of Holby City, Laura met her boyfriend, co-star George Calil. And it was at his Holland Park flat that she tragically fell from a balcony. She spent five days in intensive care at Charing Cross Hospital before the agonising decision was made to switch off her life support machine. Laura died on 19th June 2003, aged just 22.

The news was a huge blow to her family, friends, colleagues and fans, many of whom acknowledged her bright personality and acting ability which was sure to lead her onto even bigger things in future. Sadly it was not to be but Laura's legacy lives on.

‘If you knew Laura you were
touched by something very
special.

She was warm, kind and
gentle with a fantastic sense
of humour and an infectious
giggle.

If heaven is full of angels,
it now has the most beautiful
angel of them all.’
