Tara Maclay was born on the 16th of October in 1980. Her mum, who had a lot of witch power, died when she was younger and Tara seemed to have inherited it. She was a freshman at UC Sunnydale at the same time as Buffy and Willow. Willow first met her at a Wiccan meeting. Tara had a stutter when she was nervous, but it usually went when she got to know people better. Tara and Willow began doing spells together in Tara's private room. Soon the spells developed into romance. Willow took Tara to meet Buffy and Tara noticed that it was Faith. When Willow's old boyfriend, Oz, showed up, Willow chose Tara over him and told Buffy about their realtionship. In Season 5, Tara started hanging out with the Scoobies more. In "Family", Tara's family showed up and started causing trouble. They had told her that when the girls in their family reach twenty, they turn into demons. This wasn't true, it was just made up to keep the women to stay at home and do the washing up etc. Even so, Willow had stuck by her. In Tough Love, Willow and Tara had an argument about magic. Tara thought Willow was using too much. Tara stormed off and had her brain turned to mush by Glory. However, Willow put it right again. In Season 6, Tara began to notice that Willow was getting addicted to magic. They had another argument. Willow performed a spell to make her forget all about the argument. Tara found out a few days later though. She gave her an ultinatum. She told her that unless she stopped using magic, then she would leave her. But Willow was addicted. She tried another memory spell, which went wrong and Tara left her. It took many months for them to get back together. Willow finally felt able to quit magic and Tara returned to her. But their reunion was shortlived. Tara was shot dead and fell into Willow's arms, her last words being, "You're Shirt?" Tara died on May 7th 2002.
Willow then turned evil and murdered Warren, who had shot Tara. She went after his friends, Jonathan and Andrew. She couldn't kill them (due to a spell Anya had performed on them.) Instead she decided her misery should end and tried to destroy the world. Xander got to her in time though, reminding her of their friendship over the years.
