So I bet you're wondering what's the point of this site. What about me is so interesting or sublime that I should have an entire website dedicated solely to me? This is not an attempt to bore you with facts and figures about my life, but simply an avenue to let you know a little more about who I am.
Those who know me know that I am a dedicated mother of a beautiful 5 year old named Brenae Marie Scott, a graduate student at Chicago State University and that I work at BagcraftPapercon as a Collections Associate. They also know that I don't particularly care for this job, but since it offers tuition reimbursement, its a way for me to pursue my career in education on their dime.
Those who know me a little better know that I was a Property Manager from 1997-2005 and decided that the career was no longer fulfilling. My love for my daughter and my utter disappointment with the quality of education provided by Chicago Public Schools helped me solidify my decision to become an Elementary Education teacher. Though I took a huge salary cut to pursue my dream, I am happy that I chose to do so and would not change a thing.
Those who know mewell know that I am also a writer and a closet spoken word artist. I'll give you a chance to sample some of my work on this site. Let me know what you think, but keep in mind that as Erykah Badu says, "I'm an artist and I'm sensitive about my sh*t!". I'm also working on a book - Irreversibly Symptomatic - a work in progress for the last three years or so that is going slow at best. It's a fiction romance novel based on my interesting friendship / love relationship and is constantly evolving. Trust me, when it's finished, expect to see me on Oprah's couch because I'm sure to be in her Book Club.
