SPECIAL NOTICE:
Winter is fast approaching and animals are in need of special care this time of year. Here are some tips to keep your furbabies happy and healthy :
Keep all animals indoors, INCLUDING DOGS, even long/thick haired dogs can suffer from frost bite and pneumonia
Be certain your cats can not climb out windows, URI's ( upper respiratory infection) are common in cats and can be prevented!!
IF your animal does make it outside, be sure to check frequently for them around your home.
If your animal does not come home within a couple hours, you should go look for them. Under porches and cars are common places for them to hide in the winer months, IF you do find your animal check the surroundings and see if there is anything they may have eaten that could cause harm . If you believe your animal has ingested anything , take them into the veterinarian right away!!! Anti freeze is one of the biggest killers, and every minute is vital to your animals survival, anti freeze essentially dissolves your animals organs. Also check feet, ears and bellies for frostbite.
PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK THE LOCAL "POUNDS" ( animal control) IF YOU HAVE LOST YOUR PET. YOU CAN FILE A LOST PET REPORT ONLINE at WWW.MUNI.ORG ( click the animal contol link to get there).

Recently the Last Chance Animal Rescue was contacted by Krystal Allen. Allen expressed her concern for the safety of her animals. Stating that she was concerened that her neighbors may harm them. However, this was not the case.
On October 6th police were called to Allen's residence in South Anchorage after neighbors complained of the smell. Over 100 cats as well as other animals including dogs, birds (chickens & exotics) were found in Allen's home. Allen's home was deemed unfit for habitation after cats and other animals were found inside living in filth.
On Friday October 22nd Allen was charged with three counts of cruelty to animals and one count of tampering with evidence . She is currently incarcerated locally in Anchorage.Allen is being held at Anchorage Correction Complex East with bail set at $2,500 bail. Police have asked that a condition of her release be that she not possess or be responsible for any animals.
The Last Chance Animal Rescue stepped up to the plate resulting in a animal intake of over 150 animals. All of whom are in desperate need of medical attention. As a result of Allen's negligence and cruelty we are in desperate need of donations. We are currently asking for the following items;
