| The First Self Propelled Car |
The very first car (self-propelled) was built in 1769. A french
military engineer named Nicholas Cugnot designed it as a steam powered
road vehicle. The first car only had three wheels. The engine was in
front along with the boiler. It was used by the french army to
move cannons but it was too heavy and slow so it really wasn't of much
use.
