THE SUPERNATUAL LB-AU
Chris Larabee: Former Navy SeAL and county sheriff. Became a hunter after the bizarre and supernatural murder of his wife, Sarah, ten years ago, four months after they adopted their son (Vin). He is on a vengeance trail to dispatch the monster that killed her and anything else supernatural that crosses his path.
Buck Wilmington: Former Navy SeAL and mechanic. Sometimes reluctant but always present companion to his old friend’s vendetta. Buck finds himself staying with Chris not only out of loyalty, but because of their boys.
Vin Tanner Larabee (10): Adopted by Chris and Sarah when he was two months old, an involuntary witness to Sarah and Adam’s murder four months later. Plagued at times by migraines that follow ‘nightmares’ that come true.
JD Dunne
NOTE: Vin and JD have an incredibly strong bond that won’t allow them to be separated without bedlam as a result. JD is able to process Vin’s nightmares and to calm him and ease the migraines.
Ezra Standish (18): Worked with his mother, Maude, bilking rich widows and widowers out of their money by pretending to contact their dead beloved. After witnessing the appearance of a true ghost, and his mother’s ignorance of that presence, she reluctantly sent him to Josiah so that he can learn more about the supernatural.
Josiah Sanchez: Former preacher turned hunter, blamed for the death of his sister, Hannah, when he attempted to exorcise her. A great resource when the others need help dispatching anything of supernatural origin.
Nathan Jackson: Became a hunter when he was a child, along with his father, after his mother was killed by a poltergeist. He can understand the problems Vin and JD have with their lifestyle and relates to them easily.
Raine Tennyson-Jackson: Met Nathan while on a hunt in a Seminole burial ground. While possessed she killed her father, but Nathan exorcised her and kept her from dying after the possession. Now they hunt together.
Inez Recillos: Owner of The Saloon, a favorite haunt of hunters. She sometimes watches Vin and JD when it’s too dangerous for them to accompany their fathers. Ezra sometimes works for her between excursions.
Nettie “Deep” Wells: Deep is her professional nickname, because of her ability to divine the truth that comes to her from the supernatural world. She tried to help Chris after the death of Sarah, and has a great deal of affection for the boys.
KC (Katherine Celestine) Wells (16): Nettie’s great niece and apprentice in the art of summoning information from the darkness. Her parents were hunters and died mysteriously while on a hunt. The cause of their death is a closely guarded secret that she and her great aunt have been trying to uncover.
NOTE: Both Vin and JD have a crush on KC, but she only has eyes for Ezra, who she sees from time to time when he comes to them for help.
Mary Williams-Travis: Became obsessed with the supernatural after her husband was murdered. She spent their fortune trying to contact him and now ekes out a living as a reporter for a supernatural tabloid (writes under the name Em Williams).
Billy Travis (12): Mary and Steven’s son, living with his paternal grandparents since his father’s death and Mary’s subsequent obsession. Billy is conflicted about his feelings for his mother. He wants to believe that she will someday connect with his father but, at the same time, agrees with his grandparents that his mother is unstable.
Orin “Judge” Travis: Former judge and currently serving as a state representative. Does his best to keep his daughter-in-law’s ‘insanity’ hidden from the public, and his grandson safe.
Evelyn “Evie” Travis: Orin’s wife and Billy’s grandmother. Billy’s maternal figure and his confidant. Has a secret desire to see her daughter-in-law succeed in contacting her dead son.
Steven Travis: (deceased) Wealthy businessman, murdered by a business rival, a fact which no one knows. His death led Mary on her crusade and split his family.
Gloria Potter: Runs a boarding house that hunters frequent.
Andrew Potter: (deceased) Worked with Steven Travis. Soon after Steven's death he was driven mad by a supernatural presence and subsequently took his own life.
David Potter (19): Gloria’s son; dismisses anything supernatural. David attends the local university, where he majors in business.
Katie Potter (16): Gloria’s daughter; acknowledges the supernatural. Katie helps her mother at the boarding house and attends high school.
Ella Gaines: Chris’ former lover who later becomes possessed by THE DEMON’s “daughter”. Her focus in on killing Chris, Buck and whoever else stands in her way so that TD can take Vin for its own dark reason.
THE DEMON (TD): is the creature that is bent on claiming Vin Tanner for its own. TD can take on the form of anyone, typically one of the “bad guy” characters, from Riley Anderson to Jack Averill.
MISC. INFORMATION
Stories should be dark enough to be PG-13 scary, but not overly violent when the boys are involved. The boys are older than typical LB ages due to the inherent violence to these stories.
Dark Travels: The Beginning : Establishing story for the AU. Ezra Standish has come to learn about the true supernatural from an old friend of his mother's, Josiah Sanchez. When he does, he meets a rather odd assembly of hunters, including two young boys who both have ties to the supernatural.
Taking Annie Home: Part of the "Home Is" Little Britches series. Vin's ability to communicate with the dead is put to the test after JD tosses him a teddy bear at the local Goodwill. With his (adopted) father's help he sets out to help a little girl named Annie and her family face a painful good-bye. Added December 6, 2008.
